The Nebraska Cornhuskers gave its cartoon mascot an upgrade to make sure there were no associations between Herbie Husker and white supremacy.

In the original logo, Herbie Husker is making an "OK" gesture. Some over the last few years after connected the symbol to white supremacy – three straight fingers making a ‘W’ and the circle formed next to an extended finger make a ‘P.’

The cartoon from the 1970s was altered to Herbie making a No. 1 sign.

Well, shoot... A hand on a cartoon mascot was slightly adjusted. My life now has no meaning and everything is a lie. How can we go on? Won't someone think of the children?

Are you ever you going to answer my question in your Ayn Rand thread? But yes your reaction to this is comical considering how you clutched pearls over the alleged book banning that didn’t even happen

It's a small thing in the grand scheme of things, but ask yourself why was there even a need to do this in the first place?

Why did they ever have a Nebraska mascot making a hand on sign that could be confused as pro-Oklahoma (before it became something else to some people).

Times change. Ideas change. Some old things changing are worth getting frustrated over, this isn't one of them.

"Books removed by boards without training or experience in curriculum and assessment" just doesn't have the same ring to it as "Banned Books Thread". I look forward to you taking on all the over the top rightist media titles and content as well.

I would take on anything I choose to and point out stupid things in both sides of political spectrum. However unlike you I don’t attempt to portray myself as some kind of enlightened unbiased thinker when you clearly go the hypocritical route towards one narrative nearly every single discussion that you have.

I'll be glad to sign the HIPPA release and let you talk to my therapist and care team for confirmation on what I'm about to say.

I am non neurotypical, neurodivergent, OCD with severe social anxiety. Part of my manifestation involves hyperconcern with unbalanced situations where viewpoints are not handled equally.

When I am in a majority liberal community, I argue the conservative side. Here, I tend to favor the centrist positions. I want to destroy echo chambers. All facets need to be considered.

There are some individuals here who would consider me retarded. Good for them. Let them out their sickness. At least I'm open about mine.

It’s HIPAA first of all

2nd you consistently do the opposite of the drivel that you claim to be, whether it’s “othering” people or claiming to be some high knowledge person or feigning you’re some neutral person politically looking for “truth” from certain “acceptable” sources.

I don’t think you are retarded. I think you are a part time music teacher who pontificates over things from a liberal narrative because you agree with it and try to cover yourself as impartial when you aren’t.

Yep, quite accurate.

I think it says a lot that the anger is towards the changing of a single appendage of a cartoon rather than towards the human filth who created a connection between the hand sign and a radical ideology

Do you understand that the claim the OK symbol was a white supremacy symbol was made up and was a joke. You do realize don't you? I assume someone with great wisdom as you would know that.

Wisdom and knowledge are not one and the same. I have little of either. And while yes, it was originally a 4chan hoax, it has been coopted for use by some groups with negative connotation.

Also, when rotated, it is a Latin American hand sign for arsehole. I found that out by accident while working with international students, but I digress.

Anyway, one typically sees the "We're Number One" sign related to sports. It's all much Ado about nothing. The world moves ever forward.

The same way 98% of sane people see the “OK” symbol as nothing more than “OK”? Me and the boys are gonna start graffiting #1 hands all over town and have some flags made up to replace our swastikas and confederate flags.

It’s a 4chan meme that smoothbrained progressives picked up and ran with.

I think it's funny that people who think QAnon is for paranoid morons are the same people who think there are secret white supremacy symbols all throughout our society and Trump was 100% sending coded dog whistle messages to his secret cabal of Nazi militiamen in his speeches and tweets. The horseshoe theory is real.

It's the height of ignorance to suddenly believe that a hand gesture, that signals nonverbal understanding for decades upon decades is now suddenly is racist. Do you not see how stupid you libs look when embrace this idiocy?
