That was as a junior so he's probably faster. From his film he definitely has breakaway speed. Looks 4.4 to me

He's not a 4.4 guy, and the reason why I can say that with confidence. If he ever once ran a 4.4 (even a 4.49) it would be on his recruiting profiles & hudl.

Still 4.5 isn't a slouch, this chart is from a recent article about NFL RBs and their 40 times. Seems that the majority run 4.5 or slower.

Our other discussion seems to have disappeared. I think it was the 8-track reference.
My grandad was a Methodist Circuit Preacher in 60's. He and Grandmother purchased a turntable/8track/am fm desk/table. Sure back in day that was a big time purchase.

Remember as a kid tapping my feet to Manilow amd easy listening 8 tracks. I would give a finger for that piece of furniture now. Seeing what MCM furniture goes for now, would be a small fortune.

I'm kind of projecting to how fast he could be by the fall after spending a year in our offseason program.

Maybe, if he's a legit 4.4 guy by the time we start the season he'll be RB1 and it won't even be a debate. But with his size that's not the role we need him to play. I just hope he's a one cut and go type of guy, with his size if he's fast on that first cut and gets North & South he'll be plenty fast enough.

Jay Graham ran a 4.46
Tauren Poole ran a 4.48
Montario Hardesty ran a 4.49
Alvin Kamara ran a 4.56
Rajon Neal ran a 4.57
Jamal Lewis ran a 4.58
Travis Stephens ran a 4.59
Marlin Lane ran a 4.59
Travis Henry ran a 4.61
Cedric Houston ran a 4.61
John Kelly ran a 4.64
Arian Foster ran a 4.68

So arguably some of our best NFL backs from TN (in bold) all were 4.5 or slower guys. Granted that's laser timed combine 40s...but I just want Justin Williams to carry a legit 210-220 pounds and run like it. Cause I seriously doubt he'll ever see 4.4 at the combine (if he does he'll be a 1st round pick, and that'll mean he killed it here for 3 years)

Looks like he does that in high school!

That's possible. But if that's the case, that's a very real penalty. There were a lot of quality players in the portal. Which is just fodder for the people who think we shouldn't be taking any penalty at all.

I'm just skeptical of the idea we are trying to have our cake and eat it too by declaring any and all open roster spots as part of a self imposed penalty. I think that's silly.
It's at least some penalty this Spring.

What I wouldn't get is including last Fall. We didn't have room to add players anyway, so at least for that term, "taking a scholarship reduction" does sound silly. Like accepting a bowl ban when you're below .500.

Can't find it anywhere he's a 11.32 100m guy. I'd say if he ran at the combine he'd be somewhere in the 4.5s to low 4.7s
So not a breakway guy, but maybe an Eric Gray type?

Speaking of which, what's his game like? Sideline to sideline, jukey, one step and vertical, vision/find hole based or hit-stick through guys based?

I am not doubting your info, and running straight ahead is certainly different than playing football. But there is no way Tauren Poole leads that list. There is an article out there on Jamal Lewis where the Ravens said he ran a sub 4.4 at UT's pro day. Rare combo of size and speed.
