Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I thought we had moved on only one that hasn't is you. Then if no team has played the competition that SC has why is Stanford number one in sos in this mornings list. Your team is number two. Were number five so your competition has not been the best and ours is not that far behind. Since were probably playing UConn and your not we may pass you in sos.

You don’t trust eye test? Part of that is the fact that Stanford has played Tenn (top 5 as you suggest) while UConn, Oregon, Maryland and Duke has faltered since playing SC. Based on the time SC played them they were highly rank team and computerized rankings fluctuate weekly but based on actual eye test SC is number one. I do think Stanford and UT are there as well. It’ll jump a lot of ways from now to March.

Your eye test get some glasses their number one sos from nobody else at least this week. If you can't accept the legal and legitimate list do we say biased.

I hate it when foul trouble drastically changes how the players play the game, especially if the game is nearly immediately altered when one of the bigs gets a bogus foul or two right away. Ugh.

But that IS part of the game. It would be interesting to see how Lee would fare against SC if she could play to her abilities for a whole game instead of having to play the whole game worrying about fouling out.

I still think Boston would win that matchup, but still …

I’m enjoying the heck out of this season with so many players and teams really getting after it and keeping things interesting. And on a year when many thought this would be a down year for the SEC, it’s unbelievably competitive!

Good season so far!

In the head to head matchup Lee was not allowed to play by the officials. I made posts about it on the day and am happy to bring them forward. I was extremely disappointed in how the game was called because I was really looking forward to their matchup. Boston did not play any better than Lee when going head to head with her. She did her damage mostly when Lee was out of the game.

Lee was tagged with a bogus foul in the first minute of the game and it changed the entire contest.

As Volfan2012 pointed out that was not a good game to determine who the better player was as they were not allowed to go at it. The officials made certain Lee was not allowed to operate and she still had a decent game.

It is always the officials with you if the team you are pulling for is not successful.

Yes, I do. I think Ayoka’s games speak for their self as well. Just because you’re a South Carolina fan doesn’t mean you can just totally discount what she’s done.

Scoring 38 twice, 40+ on other occasions, setting the 61 point womens NCAA scoring record….

I mean, that’s a lot. And she surpassed a total legend like Rachel Banham who did hers with a bunch of 3 pointers.

I wouldn't exactly called Banham a legend.

Fairly frequently. Unfortunately in womens basketball they do tend to have an outsized impact on many games. Especially where more physical players are concerned.

I don’t understand how Virginia Tech and Missouri aren’t ranked yet. VT has beaten Duke twice, and only has one bad loss earlier in the year. Missouri has beaten South Carolina and really doesn’t have any bad losses.

The voters don’t know how to act when the perennial favs aren’t the best teams in the country. There are several teams, like Maryland, that would have dropped out completely if they were anyone else.

Excellent week!! Just reading where they are going makes me cold!🥶
Carroll will be looking for revenge!
They’re just coming out of a cold snap, so the weather will actually pretty okay (for winter…). Highs this weekend close to 50.

Carroll had their number for a long time*, and if the Argos win this weekend, it’ll be the first time they’ve beaten them three times in a row. Since Helena and Great Falls are only 90 miles apart (a stone’s throw, by Montana standards), they’re definitely one another’s biggest rivals. and it has been fun to see how hiring their current coach has changed the culture of the program.

*Long time is sort of relative here. The University of Providence (then the College of Great Falls and the University of Great Falls when I was there) discontinued athletics in the 80s and brought them back again in the early 2000s. Since then, Carroll is 24-8 against them.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the Argonaut mascot and was terrified it would be a casualty of the rebranding, but the University of Calgary’s mascot is a dino named Rex O’Saurus, and that might be my absolute favorite in college sports.
