'Incredibly selfish': Friends of slain N.J. nurse appalled by cop's actions after crash

These parts of the story really stood out to me:

In those two hours, Santiago drove home with Dymka’s body in the back seat and then returned to the crash site having never called 911 or attempted to render aid to the man, prosecutors say.
Santiago had a few drinks but not enough to impair his driving, Toscano said. The off-duty officer left with Guzman after last call and headed to a friend’s house.
He appeared intoxicated and was taken for blood testing, the affidavit says. But Santiago, despite appearing drunk and having admitted to moving a dead body, was not arrested at the scene. He was not charged until more than three weeks later.

Policing experts said it was curious that the troopers did not give Santiago a breathalyzer test on the scene. Had they done so, and had Santiago failed, he may have been arrested on the spot.

After several weeks of going back and forth trying to get alternative treatments. You conveniently leave out that part.

You still don't have a good reason why you can't throw a medical Hail Mary at a dying man.
Families don’t dictate “alternative treatments” that don’t work. And you still don’t have a good reason why doctors should be shot and killed for actually understanding medicine while conspiracy idiots like this woman have no clue

Alternative treatments on a person that they had already written off and had given up on. There is nothing to lose at that point. You would rather stick to some ridiculous policy rather than make every attempt to save a life.

I gave you a perfectly good reason. They chose to follow a policy (or the law) rather than giving that woman a chance to get her husband to another facility that could possibly save him.

I'm not going to continue to have this discussion about that case in this thread because it is slightly off topic. However, this does highlight the problem that many people like you have and it relates to a lot of these police problems. You follow orders no matter how ridiculous they are. You have no discernment and place the importance of "following the rules" over realizing that every rule or law has exceptions and times when they need to be overlooked.

The problem is that you have no clue or education of what you speak of. No families don’t have the right to say bring peyote or handling snakes to a dying cancer patient because they believe it works. You have two problems:

1) you lack simple comprehension of how police or doctors or EMTs or anything work so you criticize the laws and procedures and other things because YOU have conspiracy theory type thinking mixed with irrational feelz. You are criticizing things you don’t even understand.
2) you said they should be shot and killed for doing their job thus you are a lunatic

I blame the Parada family for being stupid enough to believe the FBI wouldn't take it. Gullible and naïve.

This is where the FBI gets involved. For whatever reason, the Paradas met with the FBI, which, according to an Associated Press report, brought in an outside contractor whose more sophisticated equipment indicated something large was buried underground. How large? The mass purportedly weighed nine tons and had the density of gold.

Obviously likely to do with it being on state property, but even still, they should have known they weren't gonna get a sniff of that gold.

Protecting the thin blue line.

Can you imagine all the things that cops got away with before social media and phones with cameras. The thought is quite scary.

I don't know if this was shared before, but this is a national disgrace from the bubba gump neighbors to our south.

Did I miss where they’re arresting innocent people or is the outrage because they’re enforcing the law on the interstate? I’m not sure about you but the interstates are off the hook in TN. No one likes the small department enforcing laws on the interstate. Lima Ohio comes to mind from my experiences driving through there. I just knew to keep the speed down when going through

Good job by the female officer. Male officer should be fired and arrested for assault.

His mistake was putting his hand on a female. Had it been a male cop, there probably wouldn't have been much said... or, looking at his 'roided out physique, he might have punched a male cop... and still nothing would have been made of this.
