Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Damn straight and unlike you when you were in school I haven't taken a day off during this "pandemic". I've worked my butt off to make sure the dumb decisions by the state and local school boards affect the students as little as possible. I hope you aren't a parent because if you are I know for a fact that your kids would be one of the little pos that are constantly disrupting class because their parents are too busy to teach them how to act in a public setting

Hey, chill. Don't feed his bias. Remember what TCA says about how you're required to represent the profession.

I would prefer they teach, too. Curriculum takes time to adjust; what is the correct amount of time to adjust from in person to online in a way that honors IEPs and 504s, differentiates based on intervention requirements, and functionally moves paper resources into responsive electronic?

Classes can only consolidate to a certain size per state law. I keep saying the law part and it keeps being ignored.

There's a point where "I don't care, just do it" stops being a functional answer and becomes a setup for failure. I believe you want them to fail. And that's depressing.

I don’t want them to fail, they just do.

But I will give them credit, they provide much laughter around our dinner table and have been a living example as to how not to be as an adult.

Oh I am a parent. And your assessment of my kids is exactly what I would expect from a teacher, ignorance.
I'm glad you admit that you're ignorant of what goes on in the classroom now that it's out in the open we can now get you knowledgeable

Give ignorant people the middle finger?

Great way to be let go and tarnish the field on the way out the door. We don't get to clock out until we turn in our keys for good.

Every interaction with a parent is an opportunity to build better working relationships, even if their child isn't in your class.

"We spend our family time in part enjoying the failure of others to meet our expectations."

There's a word for that, I just can't think of it.

Yes. This is America were medical decisions are left to the individual. That's called freedom. You want a vaccine, get one. You can't force someone else to get one.

Ron Desantis loves freedom.

Apparently he doesn’t since he eliminated the freedom of employers to set their own policies.

Freedom would actually be allowing businesses to operate as they see fit without any govt mandates. He's done other things to make my gif applicable and yours uninformed
Depends on how the government is set up right and who they are ultimately responsible too.

Typically we state that one person's freedom stops at another's. And typically we assume the government is responsible to the constituent. We are a republic which means voting which means DeSantis is responsible to his voters, majority rule. And the government is the arbitrator of disputes (employees vs employer) so it's not outside the scope of his office.

Seems like Desantis is protecting more people with his ban on any mandates than would be protected if his ban was just on the government. Which seems like it's his job to do.

But the business owner now has the same choices they would have foisted on their employees. Comply or find work elsewhere.

Really it's not about freedom as an absolute. Desantis is making a choice on whose freedoms is being protected. I have yet to see a solution that would protect everyone's freedom. Some group is always going to find a way to complain their freedom isnt protected in this situation. Desantis chose the worker over the business. We will see how it plays out for him.

Just as DeSantis didn't want big brother dictating I would prefer it be fine on a local level. This removes all local control just like a fed mandate would do to the state. He chose his judgment over that of our elected local officials. If anyone should do this it's the local ones. An outright ban is very heavy handed
