My prediction for NSD:

For every "loss", we pick up 1-2 great players to fill in the voids.......We pickup 8-10 more guys, and end up with 25 signees........

Call me daydreaming, call me unrealistic......but something tells me "mums the word"..........these dudes (Kiff and co.) know something that we don't, and have some serious "ACES" up their sleaves.........

I hope your right but I think our huge year will be next.

I think we get MB, Teague, Nu'Keese, Myles, Oku (get him back). JMO

Where did you get the orange coolade (sp.) because i need to pick some of that stuff up for NSD.

Nice to see a little optimism...it's NOT a bad thing to actually have a little faith in your new coaching staff.

There's a chance with Nu'Keese, but it's a small one IMO. I'd say 75% Gators 25% Vols.

OK, you are unrealistic. You really are.

What tells you "mums the word"? Is it so hard to fathom that this coaching staff may have underperformed? All signs indicate that they missed on a lot of guys they wanted/needed.

What's unrealistic is expecting a staff that has been complete for less than a month to pull in all of their targets after the other schools have had 18 months to work on these guys.

Let us not forget they've had roughly two months to sway these players who have been committed in some cases for well over a year. To think this recruiting class is the measuring stick for the efficacy of Kiffin and his staff is a bit foolish, IMO.

Agreed. The fact that in most cases they've had less than six weeks to truly make an impression and still some highly sought after players are at least looking at us says more about what the future holds than how many we actually sign tomorrow. I am pumped for the future.

I saw the title of the thread and thought this would be a negative doomsday thread with the name POSIVOL

The coaches will salvage what they can, it's unfair for us to judge their overall recruiting ability from this class alone. If they under perform next year then I'll have an entirely different discussion.

As for not chasing down some of these recruits like we feel they should we have to take a step back. These guys are professionals, if they sense something "off" about a player or think that a player is fickle then it's probably justified. Being in the business like they are, I imagine they can sniff these kinds of things out fairly well.

I am surprised that more fans are not talking much about Sam Montgomery. We do not have a DE committed at this point. For me he is as valuable as anyone left on our board from a need standpoint.

Personally even though he is a longshot, Peter White would fill a need for this class for the same reasons as above.

Naturally Marlon Brown importance is obvious and it seems like we have a shot at Myles and D. Jones. My pipe dream is to sign these guys and keep Oku and Stokes. If anything this would help to diversify this class. As long as I am wishing throw in Janzen Jackson and life would be good!

Every year we talk about our coaches having "something up their sleeve". I sure hope we get a surprise or two.

We're not getting Jackson. He is as solid LSU as can be.

Montgomery would be a big pickup and I think we have a good shot.

I also think we have a shot at Myles, but I just don't think we pull it out in the end.

Keeping Oku and Stokes would be very important and I think we keep both of them.

Get Peter White and Marlon Brown and I will be very happy.

How many times were we simply outcoached last year? This new staff alone is worth a 3 game swing IMHO. Meaning if we didn't sign anyone at all, we could possibly win 8 games next year just on the ability of our new regime and their ability to "coach em up". Couple that with some key additions on NSD like MB, Teague, etc. and it won't be as bad as alot of people are saying ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD. Whish is really what matters. Give me a top 20-25 recruiting class and some excellent coaching and we can at the very least compete with the bammers and dawgs, Florida is a different matter. As fans we were shooting for the stars thinking we could land these top recruits in a less than a month for some of them when CUM and satan have been talking to them for over a year. Produce on the football field this year, and give this staff a year to get in on the TOP recruits in the nation and this time next year, we will be in a MUCH better situation. (Pass the kool aid now!):)

bottom line is, this coaching staff has only been complete for a few weeks. to think that they could steal alot of players from other teams ecspecially players that the previous regime could not even get on campus to take a look. however i do think we wind up with about 3-4 of these big names

I love how I am the unrealistic one.

Firstly, I never once said I expected Kiffin and co. to sign all their targets. To believe that would be foolish. We seem, however, to be missing out on most of our targets. Big difference.

Secondly, I am well aware of how long Kiffin has had compared to other coaches. To bring that up is, again, just making excuses. My point, which was missed by the so-called "Posi-Vols", is that we are not going to have a stellar class - no matter the excuses.

Lastly, the entire point of my post was based on the ridiculous positivity of the opening "prediction". I find it laughable that so many people assume Kiffin has this bevy of silent commitments waiting to burst forth on NSD. That is highly doubtful. So you and beavbullvol and vol71 should probably discern the real reason for posting before calling me foolish.

My prediction is that UT will bring in some quality athletes and maybe even end up with a higher ranking than what I've feared over the past few days. I still don't think they'll fill their OL need though.

Would love to see some combination of Moses, White, Phillips, or ? give UT two more guys.
