I've never had a problem with Dell. But I've never used one to look at porn. I'm using a Latitude E6400 right now and it's still humming right along.

Unfortunately, one the things my position includes is that I manage about 2000 Dell devices. Their failure rate in the last 5 years or so has skyrocketed. There was a time when they were rock solid, and some of their stuff still is. Their laptops are generally trash nowadays.

Stick with Acer and Lenovo. I have an Acer that I've never had a problem with and it's very fast. Avoid Dell and Toshiba IMo

We had Dell Latitudes at work, and they were excellent. I bought a Dell Inspiron for my contracting work, and it was awful. I guess the price difference indicated (for once) the real difference in value.

Otherwise, for I-don’t-work-anymore home uses, I’m still pecking away at the 15” MacBook Pro I bought in 2009. The battery crapped out long ago, but I just keep it plugged in, and it chugs along.
