The mere fact that there are personal emails from him with "Gain of a function" clearly in the subject line should end his reign immediately and land his ass on trial.

the article last year in the WaPo was pretty devastating about how these two colluded to keep GoF research alive despite laws and significant scientific opposition to it.

even if they are sincere in their beliefs, two people shouldn't have the power they have wielded.

I’ve been saying/guessing this thing would go like the Spanish flu, pretty much since the beginning. And so far that’s how it’s gone including the Omni variant. Which puts us starting the endemic flu shot phase.
We as a society screwed the pooch on handling this thing.

I wish I wasn’t so cynical at this point to look forward to an accurate historical accounting for this in 20-30yrs (if I’m alive).

Exactly.
I think Florida got it right.
The vaccine is available if you want it.
We are also offering every available treatment.
We aren’t closing anything and everyone knows the risks they’re taking either way.
Errbody go about your business as you see fit.


Had everyone done that we’d likely be endemic now.

Politicians saw/see this a chance for political advantage rather than public duty to balance the myriad of negatives. Worse, when challenged on their calculus they demonized and attempted to stop information rather than muddle through a bad situation.

Among the tragedies of this pandemic is the attack on views that counter the ruling narrative

A COVID Vaccine for All

Wasn’t a big fan of Hotez at first, but he’s right on with this. This is how the pandemic should’ve been dealt with. Actual science for the good of the public, absent political bs.

It's so unbelievable that if a movie had been made depicting this scenario, it would be laughed off and dismissed. Most of what the "discredited" heathens said 16-18 months ago is now slowly becoming accepted thought, and often proven correct.

Examples:
- lab created virus
- Fauci involved in GOF research
- natural immunity
- cross protection from other "cold viruses"
- unwarranted damage to kids' mental health, physical health, and education
- impossible task of a "COVID Zero" policy
- mutations towards a less aggressive endemic virus
- escape of virus from narrow mRNA sequence protection
- herd immunity after ample natural infection

I’m just praying that this is the point we reach common ground. It hard to see things staying status quo.

I aint gonna insult you because you're in a much better position than I am for knowing whats going on through this whole thing, but some of those sound completely insane. if they're true, we've got far more problems than even cynics realize
