Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

This is the post I responded to…

I mistakenly took the “infectious disease doctor we see” to mean “we” as in society. Hence my Fauci comment, seeing as how we all see him on a daily basis in print or on tv. Nothing about your wife in that post, so my mistake.

not a big deal.
I probably overreacted to the Fauci man thing anyway. I get sick of people referencing that dipstick like he’s the only voice, when in reality nobody outside of politics listens to him.

Moving on.

Agree more than you’d believe.
I absolutely think the first line of defense is diet exercise and overall health. Food is without a doubt the best medicine.
My wife has had health issues for as long as I can remember. She got in remission from liver cancer then suffered through Chronic Lyme. They think that came from a blood transfusion. The point is she has outlived everyone in 2 different support groups. It’s not the medicine that’s done it either. It’s a relentless pursuit of health with diet and exercise.

@AthensVol2007
I went and looked. This was a response to you earlier
That’s why I thought you’d understand the “we” meaning my wife and I.

Anywho. Sorry for not being clear.
Moving on.

A lot of people listen to him. Hell, after listening to the Supreme Court stuff yesterday, we may even have some of those guys listening to him for guidance.

I think I have to make this point yet one more time, but "I" and most of Fauci's critics are not the ones that are listening to his advice and taking him seriously. What concerns me are the people that DO listen to him and take him seriously. Whether it is close family members and friends or some of these politicians in these different jurisdictions, these people have made life uncomfortable at best (mask requirements to enter buildings, have family/holiday functions, etc) or tyrannized at worst (vaccine mandates, vaccine passports, lockdowns, etc).

Listening to some of the SCOTUS hearing yesterday was scary and extremely frustrating with some of the justices mentioning public health and the pandemic. None of that should be of concern to them the only issue they should be concerned about is how the mandates jives with the constitution, how many people have died or are dying from the virus shouldn’t impact their decision.

You're missing the mark on this one, as much as I'd like to agree with you.

The evidence is that COVID may make children more susceptible to diabetes, which makes the foods you listed even more dangerous. It's not an either/or issue but an if/then.
But that doesn't fit the narrative.

That guy head fakes better than James Harden. His question about the "workaround" was just enough to give me a little bit of hope that he may be leaning in favor of throwing this nonsense out, but that guy seems to be averse to making tough calls.

He figures politics into his decisions which is not his job.

Except Fauci and others have said with Delta the vaccinated carried at minimum an equal viral load.

“This study showed that the impact of vaccination on community transmission of circulating variants of SARS-CoV-2 appeared to be not significantly different from the impact among unvaccinated people.
2,
3 The scientific rationale for mandatory vaccination in the USA relies on the premise that vaccination prevents transmission to others, resulting in a “pandemic of the unvaccinated”.
4 Yet, the demonstration of COVID-19 breakthrough infections among fully vaccinated health-care workers (HCW) in Israel, who in turn may transmit this infection to their patients,
5requires a reassessment of compulsory vaccination policies leading to the job dismissal of unvaccinated HCW in the USA. Indeed, there is growing evidence that peak viral titres in the upper airways of the lungs and culturable virus are similar in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.2,3,5–7 A recent investigation by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of an outbreak of COVID-19 in a prison in Texas showed the equal presence of infectious virus in the nasopharynx of vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.
6 Similarly, researchers in California observed no major differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in terms of SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in the nasopharynx, even in those with proven asymptomatic infection.”
First….. I don’t believe anything that comes out of Dr Fauci’s mouth….. he should have been fired over a year ago….. I never knew you were such a big fan….I looked at two of the studies…. Texas and California….. I don’t know how either one proves anything…. The whole theory is that being vaccinated helps lessen the viral load when someone who is unvaccinated catches it from someone who is vaccinated…. The people in the prison caught it from each other…it did show that 3 of 4 hospitalized were unvaccinated prisoners….. The one from California was absolutely bogus bc 75% of the unvaccinated were asymptomatic….. Obviously….. those people weren’t even sick enough to have symptoms….. At my building, we had 125 cases and 14-15 deaths…. After vaccination….. we have had 9-10 total cases with no hospitalizations or deaths…. Coincidence? Possibly but everything I have seen points me in the direction of helping.

You have to admire their guile and their efforts to take advantage of uncharted waters within the Constitution like this and try to create/establish a precedent.

If only they worked this hard for honest endeavors.

Maybe they are promoting the general welfare, the actual stated purpose for the very creation of the constitution.

Don’t you think it’s rather odd that promoting the General welfare has decimated jobs, the economy, personal interactions, mental health issues and childhood obesity?
“ secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity” in case you forgot that’s also in the constitution, it’s the next line. They took an oath to uphold that.

There has never been enough focus on the connection between diagnoses and extra $$$.
We have several pts that have been admitted with obvious other problems that test pos for covid. They are in the hospital because of x but y has no bearing on their recovery. The financial part I’m not privy to but I do know they get charged an isolation charge.

You’ve lost the plot, it’s not as simple as you are trying to make it out to be. I also don’t think you understand the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
I’m wondering if you know the difference.
I’m wondering if you even know the basic mechanisms of the pancreas during illness or what specialized cells produce insulin?
You are aware that blood sugar level while ill will rise as the body considers a foreign invader or fear a threat and starts the fight or flight cascade? Do you know how many people we give insulin to who aren’t diabetic post op and while ill? Just at 90%. That’s also how we have white coat hypertension. People stressed about seeing a doctor get hypertensive. They aren’t normally hypertensive.

Instead of being a Google doctor you could humble yourself and ask a real pediatrician who happens to be on this very board.

You remind me of a pts family member. We told the family the only hope for this pt was a heart transplant. She said “ can’t one of us donate ours?” I responded “ aren’t you all using your hearts?” It took a moment for her lightbulb to turn on.
I’m suggesting you be more circumspective of what you post before posting something you don’t know the whole story to. Falling on deaf ears, maybe. It is still a suggestion nonetheless.

I’ve been through the journey with a couple of dear friends that are both type 1. And also have supported several people that are type 2. So insult all you want with your google doctor comments.

I have no idea what your journey entails because you give no details. Mine is dealing with DKA, HHK, hypoglycemic episodes and insulin drips for 15 years. You are a Google doctor, most people are. Did you learn anything new about what I posted or are you just offended?
