From the article you posted. Lets look for some Easter eggs in it.

He said omicron is putting a new burden on ICUs that were already operating with just 15-16% of ICU beds available before this surge, a number that, before the start of the pandemic, would typically be around 20%. Williamson said many areas in the state are getting dangerously close to the levels seen last summer, when there were a net negative number of available ICU beds in the state.

“What’s happening is, it’s everything else plus omicron,” he said. “It’s a combination of already being filled with the usual stuff, and now with the explosion of COVID, we’re going to find ourselves from day to day in some parts of the state in a similar situation as we were [back during delta].”

So "a new burden"? Suggests that they already had at least one other burden before omicron.

"everything else plus omicron"... So before omicron, you already had other things going on as a driver of the problem.

"a combination of already being filled with the usual stuff", more of the same.

So is this an omicron issue or an "everything else" issue?

The constant Nazi comparisons are mindless and cheap, not to mention inaccurate. If you want to compare it to something more applicable, compare it to the Japanese Scare and Interment portion of American history.

75% of deaths in the US are in people over 65. 93% of deaths are in people over 50.
A person in the United States under 55 has on average a 1 in 500 chance to die in any given year. A person over 55 has a 1 in 20 chance. Who do you think is making up the majority of a 40% increase to the death rate?

Not really. There are plenty of similarities. At this point is there a malicious actor at the head like Hitler? I don't think so but Germany didn't just wake up and decide to be Nazi Germany over night. We can recognize the similarities in process. Whats the point of learning from history if you simply mock similarities as "mindless?" The belief of the term of "Never Again" with the holocaust and the mocking of seeing similarities can't co-exist.

We are repeating the lead up to that type of society. It may have a slightly different flavor.

I don’t want to get into a big discussion about it but there is one big difference in my opinion. Antisemitism was already a big problem in Germany (and Europe) even before the rise of Hitler.

I’m the first to admit that I made a mistake. So when I posted that thing that was apparently about Trump, that was my mistake. We were having a discussion about Rogan, and I thought that “reality tv star” comment was about him. And yes I did vote for Trump and never ever watched him on the apprentice, not my kind of show.
