Well, I finally caught up from today. I have one question, do any of you fine people work for a living?, because most of the weeds I waded through to get here is either, bitching and moaning or woe is me. I’d like a little warning heads up next time.
Just assume that the bitching, moaning and woe is going to be present, regardless of the outcome of any recruiting battle or sporting event. You have been warned.

Big Ben wins his last game at Heinz in true Big Ben fashion. Owning the Browns. What a career. Wish he had one last playoff run, but most legends tend to go out with a whimper unfortunately.

It’s crazy to think that Brady is really the last of the “old guard”. Once he retires, all of the QBs I grew up watching in my formative years will be officially gone. Arguably the greatest QB generation, too.

Manning(s), Brady, Big Ben, Brees, Rivers, etc. Just so much talent.
Not a fan of the Steelers or Big Ben. Hope they miss the playoffs again. I do really like Mike Tomlin.

I want an 8-16 team playoff.

I agree. Since we are throwing spit wads at things...

I like the 16. The more to the party, the more fun for all, the more the players see there are other options than being stockpiled and maybe play or maybe be recruited over. Opens the playing field to all if they want to play in the big leagues. The money tree would be full for schools and players alike.

March Madness started with 16. Time to think outside the box.

Just how many Akrons, Chattanooga and Tenn Tech's on an SEC schedule to pad win totals do people need to see to make them happy and want to spend big bucks to be in Neyland? Unless you have a kid you are wanting to take, there's no reason to be there. Which is why you see Neyland half full and UT claiming they had 85 K there due to # of tickets sold, many of which were discounted.

Drop the season back a crap OOC game or two to accommodate the potential extra games in the playoffs. I bet there would be zero lost revenue because the value of the meaningful games goes up, increasing the ticket value (and price). To make it work the rival games have to go unless they are in-division. I don't see the conferences giving up the revenue for conference championship games as well as they would help determine the seeding in the playoffs. Let the west deal with Bama unless the SEC does realignment due to the Texas/Okie expansion and they fall in the east somehow.

I hate when we play FCS schools. I do not attend them and only watch them casually. Usually a glorified scrimmage.

I would tend to agree.....but coming from someone who went to a FCS school, it is a blessing for us. That money helps fund all the athletic programs at the University. Without it, some programs would cease to exist.

I think it would be better if each FBS school sponsored a FCS school

Y’all ever use vortex scopes? Where I hunt I need to be able to make 300 yard shots. I need an affordable scope that has good magnification. Vortex is what I’ve seen recommended
The Vortex Diamondback Tactical is good. So is the Monstrum 2-7x32 AO.

The Monstrum is cheaper on your pockets and has a range finder integrated.

Damn man...I could live awesomely on just the gain on investment. You must like living high on the hog.

Both are true:

(1) $2 million is an absolutely insane amount of money for any college football player short of the handful of all-time legends.

(2) $2 million pre-tax is life-changing for almost everybody, but especially if you allow for any impulsive splurging at all, it is not enough to raise a family and retire on unless you are content to live a very modest life — which I would suggest would be very tough for a kid who got $2 million as a teenage star to adjust to.

This decade of drafted QBs has been pretty solid, crazy that the 2004 class lived up to the hype (I listed the best QBs and then pro-bowlers from the same class)

1998 - Peyton Manning (Brian Griese, Matt Hasselbeck)
1999 - Donovan McNabb (Daunte Culpepper)
* 2000 - Tom Brady (Marc Bulger)
2001 - Drew Brees (Michael Vick)
2002 - David Garrard
2003 - Carson Palmer
2004 - Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger (Matt Schaub)
2005 - Aaron Rodgers (Alex Smith, Matt Cassel, Derek Anderson)
2006 - Jay Cutler (Vince Young)
2007 - (no pro bowlers drafted)

* Chad Pennington was also in this class and had a solid career, but never made a pro-bowl

So to me it seems like 2007 (since it yielded the worst QB class) is a good pivot point to the new QB era...and here's a few guys drafted in the new age

2008 - Matt Ryan (Joe Flacco also in this class but no pro-bowl)
2009 - Matthew Stafford
2010 - no pro-bowlers, but Sam Bradford in this class
2011 - Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Tyron Taylor
2012 - Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, Russell Wilson, Nick Foles, Kirk Cousins
2013 - no pro-bowlers
2014 - Teddy Bridgewater, Derek Carr (Jimmy Garoppolo also in this class but no pro-bowl yet)
2015 - Jameis Winston (Marcus Mariota also in this class but no pro-bowl)
2016 - Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Dak Prescott
2017 - Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, Mitchell Trubisky
2018 - Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson (Baker Mayfield & Sam Darnold also in class but no pro-bowl yet)
2019 - Kyler Murray
2020 - Justin Herbert (Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts, Jordan Love all in this class no pro-bowl yet)
2021 - no pro-bowl yet (Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Davis Mills)

So far 2004 or 2012 have to be in consideration for best QB classes ever...just hitting on that many in one class is pretty amazing.

Bold = SB Champs
Italic = Played in SB

On the pod AP said we have 7 spots open for transfers: Edge (Verse), RB, OT, WR, and 3 DB’s. Hubbs questioned him about RB and AP said we WILL take a transfer RB.

Interesting...wonder if this means they think someone in the secondary can bulk up and play LB (like Beasley) or if they think one of the edge guys can play ILB (Roman?)

Doesn't go as far as you think. To keep up, you can only spend what's earned over the inflation rate, and that's after taxes. Assuming 10% return and 4% inflation, after taxes and reinvestment you'd net $40-50k.

But very few would even do that, much like lottery winners who generally end up more broke than before.
