Would’ve been ok with him as the RBs coach but MORE THAN ok with Mack…he’s delivered. Great option in the future as he plies his trade.

It doesn’t seem the staff is targeting Arch. He’s the #1 QB for 2023 but it’s a deep class with a number of 5 star QBs.

This is our #1 QB target for next year. We aren’t after Arch and he has shown little to no interest in us.

Yes, I don't think it moves the needle much with Arch but it still sells to any qb prospect in the nation. The man has developed some of the best qbs ever. Tennessee would literally become the meca for the best qb factory in the nation if it was possible to get him.

I don’t think their styles mesh. A good sounding board can’t be discounted, but I think Heupel’s covered.

Agreed, I would not give him an on the field role by any means but I would think he would be able to conform to the offensive philosophy. Heupel runs a simple offense and I would think he would be more beneficial than detrimental

I will not say that Arch isn’t worthy of the 5* ratting he has gotten. But I do wonder if his last name wasn’t Manning if he would have gotten the same attention he has gotten. I know a lot of top programs are after him, but I have seen him play on multiple games over last couple years and he has struggled mightily against ranked/good teams while he has dominated the lower 2A teams he has played. I think Nicholaus Iamaleava is the right choice to make a priority for this class. The level of competition he has played is better and at a higher level of classification.

Merritt is going to be a great coach... but I don't think he wasn't very happy on Rocky Top. I have it on good word that prior to the BGSU game, he called up some of his old coaching buddies and described the situation in the Tennessee locker room as a "S*** Show" and "something Urban wouldn't have tolerated." I'm not sure if his feelings ever changed... but I'll try to find out.

He’s saying it was so bad even Urban wouldn’t put up with it. He wasn’t implying Urban is a good coach, the exact opposite. Lol
