fulkerson and JJJ covid [Rumor]

Basilio is stirring the pot quite a bit in his blog at tonybasilio dot com:

Tennessee Is Staring At Being Short Handed Due To Flu & Covid Concerns Tonight:

As of yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon 4 players were sick and addled with a virus of some sort. I believe Tennessee is facing being without at least two starters for tonight's game and perhaps another one if a test comes back positive. Needless to say this isn't the way Tennessee wanted to ring out 2021 and ring in the 2022 SEC season.

As we reported first in the market yesterday Tennessee administered tests to at least two players that were showing symptoms leading up to yesterday's departure from Knoxville. Grant Ramey of 24/7 reported that it's safe to assume that Tennessee will be shorthanded tonight and I completely agree with his assessment. As I wrote above I hear the number is 4 players that are in doubt for tonight but that number could expand or contract depending on how testing goes. One source close to the deal told me that a lot of guys aren't feeling well. Some of these players have tested negative for Covid but are thought to be sick with a flu like virus making its way through the team. It should be noted that all rotational players traveled to Tuscaloosa.

Vegas Knows The Deal On Tonight:

The game opened as Tennessee +1.5 and got immediately bet to Tennessee +3. Draft Kings immediately took the game off the board as the action started to move. Vegas is in the business of knowing. You could see the line really rocket up if the players in question become known. Follow the money ...

Give Rick Barnes Credit:

Despite the fact that Tennessee could be down a few to several guys Rick Barnes is absolutely keeping his word ... Tennessee is playing tonight even if they have to throw some walk ons out there or summon players from the student body. This is EXACTLY what he said he would do when Memphis canceled on the Vols a few weeks back. 88 mens' basketball teams are now in pause but Tennessee isn't one of them.

Great Opportunity For Tennessee Tonight:

If Tennessee wins Barnes is heroic. If the Vols lose the committee will grade Tennessee on the curve. It won't count against them if Tennessee plays without arguably their two best players. Plus Barnes is going to get the opportunity to work some guys like Powell, BHH, Zeigler and the like. I will give a hint that a couple of the guys they're expected to be without tonight were missing earlier in the year in a scrimmage with Davidson where Tennessee played very well. Ironically Davidson beat Alabama in the Tide's last game before Christmas. You can't make this stuff up.

No issues. I was part of it. I know people complain about the topic, but 5 pages about a rumor with no news is not very exciting either.
So....the fact that the actual thread title reveals the thread is about a covid rumor didn't tip you off in any way? You had to endure five pages of something you had no interest in? Hmm, seems like you might have moved on after page one. The ability of VN posters to find something to whine about is truly amazing. Erbody gotta be a star.

Well, let's see...

Who benefits from TN players potentially out? Bama
Who didn't have to play TN in the 2019 SEC tourney because it was canceled at the last minute? Bama
Who won the CFP last year without covid issues? Bama
Who's playing for the CFP this year, seemingly sans covid issues? Bama

Think it's pretty obvious at this point that the SEC, Wuhan, and Fauci are all colluding via the most extensive effort yet to favor Bama. It all makes complete sense now.

Edit: Should delete this post before they come for me, but the world needs to know

Hear tell Saban has a bat farm.

So Basilio says 4 guys out, at least 2 starters, but that all rotational players traveled…anyone else a little skeptical that they’d be traveling positive players with the rest of the team to Alabama?
That’s the part that I don’t get. We have seen the players arrive on story feeds and whatnot. And there will be a shoot around today so we should know all who made the trip. Wild story.

I'm wondering if it is something more along the lines of some guys got exposed or people close to them tested positive and they are taking every precaution in monitoring them.

The Fulkerson basketball camp last week definitely had some positive cases - had a family member in attendance that just tested positive, now everyone is in a panic. Could see that getting back to someone like Basilio who turns it into something just close enough to not be an outright lie but still "National Enquirer" levels of stupid.

I mean maybe the names we’ve heard were completely wrong? We haven’t seen Santi at all, or Powell or BHH…just spit balling, cause yea, it doesn’t make sense Chandler/JJJ/Fulk would have tested positive and then be on video/pictures with the rest of the team.

When the Memphis Game was canceled, I saw a quote stating that 15 of 17 were vaccinated. I didn't think it was a rumor since it came from several sources. If both do have it, we have identified the 2 of 17 that are not vaccinated. Or this could be two-breakthrough cases.

I agree with you BTO, stupid AF. As long as they are not exhibiting symptoms we should be good to go.
We all know how rumors work, there is nothing we can do about it and we will see game day.

Why are they break-through cases? There are tons of people that have had Covid multiple times along with being fully vaccinated. Maybe I misread your comment but it is a common occurrence with the different variants existing.

Yeah, color me skeptical with Basilio’s blog. He said all rotational players traveled with the team, but if we’re concerned about a flu-like virus or COVID ravaging the team why would they let sick players who aren’t playing travel? Seems irresponsible to potentially expose the rest of the healthy players.

Something doesn’t add up.

There are breakthrough cases, evidently, this was a rumor. Understood, Guidance changes by the CDC. Too much information, opinion, and rumors causing the Choas and confusion we are experiencing. Why some have posted a rumor from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend results in an OMG moment. 6 pages of posts and the real facts are not out... and whip their A$$

The team has landed in Tuscaloosa, so it appears as if the show goes on one way or another.

Yet several other schools have landed at the location of their game (basketball and football) and games have been cancelled. Kind of like the Memphis game.....

Exactly, plus they showed a video of JJJ talking about the game tonight on the vol hoops instagram story. I don't think they would do that if he wasn't going to play
