Watching the ticker on ESPN last night, I got the feeling that sports may be about to come to a (brief) screeching halt. With all these vaccinated players and staff testing positive and the transmission rate of this new strain, it seems inevitable. Sucks if it screws up the playoff and championship. I guess they might reschedule???
A couple points catching up on the thread:
- Paxlovid is definitely NOT a monoclonal antibody. It is a protease inhibitor, which blocks viral replication. There are several similar drugs used for the treatment of HIV.
- The flu is not "over." Worldwide circulation just fell dramatically for a multitude of reasons, but spread in the US is on a steep incline over the past couple of weeks.
- CV19 tests are specific for CV and will not cross-react with influenza.
Carry on.
