Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I set this at 30 days to account for the "breakout" of omicron. Nowhere near the spikes from before (go dig out the longer term data) yet we didn't shut it all down for those. Methinks somebody wants some cash for treatments and vaccines.

I don’t expect to see deaths do anything new.

But with Christmas gatherings and the emergence of a highly contagious variant, I’d expect some big new case numbers.

The Biden admin, though, is threatening death and chaos and hospitalizations to surge but none of the data worldwide backs that up.

It seems to me like we'd want to be back to normal to let this variant- which acts much milder as proven by the data- get people natural immunity.

Not gonna happen. Because that would mean a ceratin subset of people would have to give up their new found power.

Maybe this will get us to the point where we’re only testing to diagnose an illness and treat that illness. If everyone (vaccinated, boosted, natural immunity, or nothing) is testing positive, then there’s no value in the test. If someone is sick and could benefit from treatment (monoclonal or Pfizer pill), then test to determine what is the causing the illness and treat it.

Cynically, I suspect there another Covid relief bill being drawn up as we speak, and I can already hear the “we shutdown the virus” campaign ads for November 2022.

Was at home by myself this weekend and it was the first time in church in 4 years without having to tend to a kid, so I could actually pay attention and notice my surroundings. I would venture to say the average age of our congregation is in somewhere their mid 60’s. There was exactly two people in this age category and up who were wearing masks yesterday. Every other person (probably 10-12 total) who was masked was 40 or less. I’m thoroughly confused. Either the older demographic has accepted their potential fate and risk given their ages or they’re still intelligent and logical enough to grasp the situation. We know the later is at least partially true as they’re not influenced by social media

Perhaps the older generation you’re seeing has just lived through enough stuff to recognize BS when they encounter it.

If I order both, they do. Quite a few parents are actually requesting NOT to test for CV, as they understand that there isn't a treatment for kids and they will have a mild illness.
Glad to hear there’s more sane parents out there. My wife wanted to get our’s tested about this time last year, I told her no but also asked why when they’re going to tell us to manage his fever with Tylenol, keep him hydrated and make him rest; the same things were already doing. Whatever he had lasted roughly 48 hrs. Kept him out of daycare for one day post-symptoms then sent his little ass back.

and bring back the 600 a week unemployment checks and 2000 a month stimulus checks

1.5 Million Parents Could Drop Out Of Workforce If Biden Stimulus Passes; Analysis | ZeroHedge

As many as 1.5 million working parents could exit the labor market as more U.S. households receive the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) benefit, a new study predicts.

According to a recent analysis (pdf) from University of Chicago economist Bruce Meyer, approximately 2.6 percent of parents could drop out of the workforce after being given monthly entitlement checks based on family income.
