Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

But let's panic and cry and shut everything down again. This has been the case this whole time follow South Africa and you'll see what these things are going to do.
This lag time BS people are spouting is just that

I understand the hesitancy with SA data: much younger population, a home grown variant (beta) that infected many in that country but which didn't become prominent elsewhere (perhaps providing a large number of South Africans a form of natural immunity that others in the world would lack), and the quality of the SA data (tons of excess deaths in SA). Denmark does more testing than anybody and their data is top notch. More similar population and vax profile too.

If it saves just one life…
Outlawing cigarettes and shutting down the tobacco companies would save millions. Going back to the prohibition days and shutting down all the bars would save thousands every year if not millions with fewer drunk driving accidents. Outlawing hamburgers and frys at fast food places "could possibly" save thousands by making people healthier. If you look at things from a life saving standpoint, there's all kinds of things that could be done that infringe on liberties that would also make people very unhappy (not to mention eliminating abortion).

Eliminating sugar-sweetened sodas would go nicely in this list ...

Or you're just choosing which data fits your narrative

Gotta keep the fear mongering going for the sheep

We’ve had 51 million infections, maybe less, maybe more due to the dynamics of testing/test results, and 200 Million vaccinated. Yet, here we are with the .gov and their talking heads continuing down the same path, purveyors of fear and panic. We will look back and see the list of what they got right is far shorter than the list of what they got wrong, imo.

the highest daily case count in FL (7 day average) was 29K during the rage of Delta (and that was for about 2 days) the days immediately preceding that and directly after were about 20K

this projection is nuts.
It hasn't been about health for months. It is about POWER.

With all this remote learning, is it really necessary to have a whole lot of teachers? Can't one teacher instruct thousands of students now if they can all watch in their jammies in Mom's basement?

My prep and interaction time per student almost tripled the last time we were remote, and I still felt guilty as hell that I was shortchanging them compared to what I could teach and what experiences I could give them in person.
