There should be a stat for Beasley about getting dragged 3 yards every "tackle"

Yeah, the one thing I expect/hope we see with the LBs getting more comfortable is them being in position to make better tackle attempts.

I just don't think the "answer" is sitting in the portal as easily as some people think.

Our two highest rated recruits in last class, Willis & Marley are now both working at ILB during bowl prep. We are likely to only lose Mitchell from the group, and he was out most the season anyway. Still got Eason (if he stays at ILB) on the roster too. And seeing what BJM was able to do with that group with the lack of time and experience he had to do it in I personally am excited to see what he can do with bowl practice + full off season.

We've added good LB talent in this class as well and Pearce/Josephs both could be immediate contributors. So that opens up Roman to move back to ILB and he's looked pretty good anytime he's on the field.

Plus more DL pressure up front = easier work for LBs. They spent too much time having to work through OL blockers imo to really blow up many plays and that's a lack of DL pressure forcing the OL to retreat rather than move to the 2nd level to block.

"Nolan said if his decision was based on NIL money he would have went to UT."

That's not choosing another school. That's an outright attempt by Nolan to harm our program. There's a difference.

[Edit: To be clear, I'm not worried about this pre madonna. Just noting for the record.]

ONCE AGAIN I will ask for some clarity on the portal.

I understand the 5 more initial counters, and 7 portal transfer math, but......

Based on the current rules, how many of those 7 max replacements OPENINGS do we have in hand today? We don't have those until guys that were counters this year complete their transfer and are academically eligible at a new D1 school correct?

I see a couple of projections in the 247 portal tool, but have any actually earned us a pickup for MIncey as of today?

In order bring in all 32 new guys we have get our returning on schollie guys down to 53. How many do you project we have now and how do we get to 53 the number it would take to use all 32.. Guys just walking away and medicals help too I know. I have heard todays number as high as 67 and as low as 59. 6 m0re sounds doable, but 14? The whole COVID year has really messed up the schollie timing,

LWS posted some numbers here: Look at 2022 Roster

Meh. Look at his career HC record. Barely over .500. Also look at the wins this year against a bunch of Vandys… Good DC. Not sold as a HC yet.

And to think, MSU gave him a massive extension after one good year. I believe they'll live to regret that.

That’s what I’m hoping. But it worries me that we haven’t heard of even one visiting when their is some talent in the portal right now. It is our biggest weakness still and should be our number one priority.
I am just saying that perhaps we already have exactly who he want to take in that position and that person is still on their current team preparing for a bowl game.

We pay over time vs up front?

Walter don’t need no annuity.

SIAP - This is a decent article. I generally agree with the idea.

The schools are getting millions in TV and advertising contracts, and funneling that into coaching/AD salaries and facilities. While players have to figure it out themselves and the schools/fans expect local businesses or alum millionaires to pay them. That isn't going to work and its not a fair or sustainable model.

Schools (employer) should pay the athletes (workers) fair and even wages, then let NIL be in addition to that in some form. Split the SEC/Pac12/Big10 Network and ESPN/CBS/FoxSports contract revenue (throw in Verizon/other business contracts and such) and split that amongst the sports/athletes in some agreeable way.

The new way of compensating college athletes is chaotic and 'not a sustainable model.' Here's a solution

So it sounds like we lead for the 5 star QB, 5 star Vic Burley, and are right at the top for 5 star Carnell Tate. Caleb Herring is a Vol without question, and he's a top 50 player who will likely move up. Not to mention we're going to land Desean Bishop, a freaking baller though he isn't ranked yet.

That '23 class is fixing to be special. This is what I hoped for with Heup. You knew that he was bringing an elite offense with QB development. QB's and skill players are going to want to play here. You have Garner, the goat defensive recruiter. This is looking like we're on our way.
Bishop seems perfect for this offense. I'm excited to see what he can do.
Hopefully, once he commits they will limit his touches next season to less than 100 a game lol
