Penny sucks. Barnes is going to beat them by 40.

LOL I wish.... they looked strong and confident in the last game and penny will have them primed to go against us. I honestly don't have a lot of confidence in our team right now with how hot and cold they've played (mentally). I've said quite a bit, the only knock I have with Barnes is his inability to have his teams mentally ready for high stakes, big games, to play consistently at a high level... If they are confident and have some swagger, they can beat anyone in the country and shoot the lights out, but if they come out timid, tense, and not confident, Memphis will embarrass them... We've already seen them go cold for long periods already several times this season, I just hope they come out with a fire in their belly's and want to stomp Memphis... we need an alpha like Admiral or Grant to get them fired up... Fulky ain't the answer...

There are a couple of red flags about Diabate though: he just had shoulder surgery that will keep him out through spring and he's a f'n headcase.
Doesn’t have to be him. Just an example of a good linebacker that could start here. But if he is a head case and they don’t see him as a fit, then I don’t want him either. Just hoping they still want to address ILB.

Walter Nolen responds to rumors of NIL money playing a factor in his college decision

Nolan said if his decision was based on NIL money he would have went to UT.

That's hilarious... of course he is going to say that with the potential hot water A&M is already in with NIL... okay bud, so you'd like to fight for playing time with an already stacked and packed DT room, or play for a proven successful position coach and potentially be a starter day one where your family can ride down the street and support you every Saturday? Okay.....

Beasley needs about 10-15 more pounds which I’m not sure he can handle. And I hope the young linebackers grow, but right now we need proven players to plug in to win now. I think all of the ILBs from this year will be better next year, but what does that mean? They were all bad except one. Can only go up.

Think you're grading our LBs too harshly. There are only 2 ways to project talent....1. production (and until they play a year here can't do that with HS guys, so have to look at what the portal guys did elsewhere). 2. potential (based on rating, size, speed, etc.)

Our guys production wise returning:
Banks: 108 tkls, 9 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 1 int, 2 PDs
Beasley 79 tkls, 6 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 0 int, 0 PD, 2 FRs

Florida ILB you keep mentioning (his best season)
Diabate: 89 tkls, 2.5 TFL, 0 sacks, 0 int, 0 PD, 0 FR

And part of why Beasley's numbers aren't better he didn't become the starter beside Banks until Mitchell was out.

Tennessee continued its bowl prep for Purdue Friday morning, starting in the indoor before shifting outside for two periods while the media was in attendance.

There was some individual work taking place after stretches and the defense took part in a mini turnover circuit. Special teams work took place on the practice field outside as the punt team was getting some work in against different scout looks.

Towards the end, quarterbacks were throwing to receivers for routes on air. Both Hendon Hooker and Joe Milton looked good throwing the deep ball.

There was an assorted of jersey colors on display today. A good bit of scholarship players were in black jerseys, simulating scout team. Jaylen Wright looked to be in a noncontact yellow jersey.

Jordan Phillips was the lone early enrollee on the practice field today while Jimmy Calloway was in street clothes. Mid-term enrollees Justin Williams, Tyre West and transfer Gerald Mincey are due in town later today.

Stay tuned for Tim Banks and select defensive players coming up at 11:45.

Yeah, it’s a little funny how folks pretend like they had Pruitt sniffed out all along. Given the circumstances, Fulmer was given a lot of praise for that Pruitt hire. Didn’t work out. Doesn’t change the fact that Fulmer is a huge part of the program’s rich history.
I just wanted some stability in the program. Someone who would be here in 6 or 7 year and build a team that was competitive. I enjoy watching the game but not when everything is in shambles. Was hoping Pruitt was the guy but wasn’t a fit. I have to admit I was meh on the hype hire but I enjoyed watching this year. Only time I really got aggravated is when we gave up the 3rd and 26 to Kentucky.

Didn't we give up a 4th & 24, too?

We’re going to add anywhere from 7-12 more players. Many of them won’t be until may-June. Relax on the portal folks

ONCE AGAIN I will ask for some clarity on the portal.

I understand the 5 more initial counters, and 7 portal transfer math, but......

Based on the current rules, how many of those 7 max replacements OPENINGS do we have in hand today? We don't have those until guys that were counters this year complete their transfer and are academically eligible at a new D1 school correct?

I see a couple of projections in the 247 portal tool, but have any actually earned us a pickup for MIncey as of today?

In order bring in all 32 new guys we have get our returning on schollie guys down to 53. How many do you project we have now and how do we get to 53 the number it would take to use all 32.. Guys just walking away and medicals help too I know. I have heard todays number as high as 67 and as low as 59. 6 m0re sounds doable, but 14? The whole COVID year has really messed up the schollie timing,

There should be a stat for Beasley about getting dragged 3 yards every "tackle"
