He’s not explosive enough to be a legit pass rusher in an even front. Dudes have to be twitchy.Swain said that Tyler Baron said he is moving over from DE. Have y’all discussed this possibility already? I’m curious how much weight he will need to add and if he could be effective in that role. I’m always wary when a player has to transform their body to fit a new role.
Eason is a physical upgrade from Blakely and benefits from (way) better instruction. Ditto on Baron. See that as Tremblay’s successor and that was a portal success story in retrospect.Butler = 295
Bumphus = 290
Blakley = 270
Bailey = 270
McNeil = 285
Tremblay = 280
Baron =260, and I think the move will actually be easier on him. Dude has the frame to carry around another 15-25 pounds easy I think and he can get stronger while doing it.
Leaves those OLB/Edge guys to be Byron, Roman, Josephs, Pearce and all of them are near that 240lb mark anyway
For me the biggest question mark is where does Eason end up at and will he contribute? Listed with the LBs and weights 290lbs at 6'3" but last practice video looked like he was repping with the DL too (he's wearing 20)

I could be completely making this up but I think I remember reading that Baron had difficulty keeping his weight down…. I feel this is a good move for him bc he is not explosive enough to be a dominant edge player.Butler = 295

True but it took him several seasons to reach that level and I think West is already there…at least physically. That leadership should be synthesized and sold on the open market.Agreed completely I think Eason & Baron both with bowl practice and spring ball working DL both could be upgrades over the two you mentioned. Butler is really the guy that's going to be hard to replace...

He definitely has the frame to hold the extra weight, and I think he could do a very good job at collapsing the pocket as an under tackle with his combination of strength and athleticism.I could be completely making this up but I think I remember reading that Baron had difficulty keeping his weight down…. Good day yesterday. Tennessee finished where they wanted. They planned to take around 20, leaving spots to fish experienced players out of the portal. They’re also leaving the option to self-sanction.
UT has stability among the marquee coaches, and we’re reaping the rewards of that. They’re a tight group, very similar in philosophy and commitment. That’s intentional. UT is going to build a certain way across sports, recruiting a certain type of player and looking for a good fit, good character, solid academics and positive team relationships. The coaches aren’t going to take—or keep-- highly rated players who don’t fit, don’t care about academics, won’t follow team rules and would be disruptive to what UT is invested in doing.
UT is sticking with “the right way” to build, and coaches like Barnes, Harper, Vitello, Weekly and now Heupel show what that is. Some of the players who have left show what it isn’t.
Napier playing the long game hiring Raymond and rumored to be reigning in Tosh Lupoi whenever he jumps that Jaguars already sunk ship. I simply don’t comprehend the relative pass he gave this crop.
