This class may not appear elite by the services, but that doesn't mean it's not elite in this system.
Fair point. NFL draft analysis outlets grade based on need and fit. College does not. So if Kroger needed a QB but only got an athlete the NFL would give them a C-.

NIL- Reminds me of NFL rookies vs veterans. I know teams are trying to get new players to come however the players on the team need to be taken care first or they will start looking elsewhere also. Always the unproven want the incentive to come on potential. It is going to be a challenge to balance. Glad I am not a college coach.

Swain said that Tyler Baron said he is moving over from DE. Have y’all discussed this possibility already? I’m curious how much weight he will need to add and if he could be effective in that role. I’m always wary when a player has to transform their body to fit a new role.

I think this is a great move for him, and I believe he slid over on passing downs some this year. Our D gets faster if he can handle the move.

Fulmer and Company built a National power house doing this. DE became DT. LB became DE. Safeties became LBs.

UGA might be top 3 right now, but their average is a whopping 2-2.5 points/players below Bama and TAMU and their recent classes. OSU will probably pass em too. They're slippin, however little, but they're slippin.
They signed 5 five stars and 15 four stars. They’re not going anywhere down anytime soon.

Swain dropping hints of LB’s from other teams eyeing Tennessee that aren’t in the portal yet. Not a revelation by any means but worth mentioning.

Yep.
People freak about in-state because they assume teams start with an advantage and drop the ball. As implied, it's almost the exact opposite with TN kids.

The toxic involvement by some and hate-hate media relations, make it harder.
Fully agree, those content being told what to think and refusing to even come check for themselves, aren't necessary. Bring in the talent that wants to be here.
And given some of the recent years in our program, that’s somewhat reasonable. We’ve underperformed badly in the draft for a while now. Once Heupel starts getting guys in those first couple rounds and TN kids see they can rep the state, get developed, and succeed in the pros, the local programs will get back on board.

Uh - the sky is not falling in recruiting. Imagine that. Crickets from the cheap seats. NIL will be handled. We have Danny White and Randy Boyd. Heup knows what to do.

We really do have a new age HC and staff. They actually do know what they are doing. Another season of success after some quality development and the NCAA thing in the rear view will solve the talent upgrade image issue. I see it as an image issue, not reality. A 3* can be as good or better than a 5* frequently - when developed properly and inserted at the right time. Our staff knows this because the class they signed reflects this - upside. This is a measured approach to building a program, not a sprint to see who can get there first. We started at the back of the pack, so it is an endurance run. But they still plan to win the race as soon as they can.

On D we have Tim Banks, Rodney Garner, Brian Jean-Mary and I am glad to be proven wrong - Willie. I have loved what PSU's D does schematically for years. Their D kept Franklin in his job. Cowboy fans now know how a Micah Parsons can disrupt an O in a properly designed scheme. Enter Joshua Josephs. Tim has a solid plan and I am excited. We have Rodney. Did I say we have Rodney?

Every single D signing has intent. They were signed to play a position or to be a swing into multiple positions. None were signed as D players to be moved to O. If a guy doesn't cut it on D after a couple years that may happen, but will be more likely the guy will transfer out with the new rules.

Not going to talk O coaches - they 100% proved themselves last season. On O they added size/length/good feet/intelligence in the O-line so that we have quality OT's going forward. Interior guys can be had and made into quality players. OT's must have the referenced. What has been our biggest O-line issue for what seems forever? Quality OT's.

RB - stocked. Kamara version 2.0 with world class speed and UGA style RB in Williams. Check.

Receiver - wow. Just wow. Fits at every position with great upside. They all stayed the course and signed. What does that tell you about their belief in CJH and his system?

QB - yeah. That guy with all the throws and mobility with great upside. Proven winner from a proven winning family. We are good here.

After these three long but good post I can tell the prednisone has kicked in. HAHA!!

Guys I looked the top 25 up and down, I don't see Florida? Where tf are they? 🤣
Napier playing the long game hiring Raymond and rumored to be reigning in Tosh Lupoi whenever he jumps that Jaguars already sunk ship. I simply don’t comprehend the relative pass he gave this crop.

Anyone know if we are talking to Lewis or Jennings (LB's) from Maryland? I don't see them committing to anyone yet... Surely we are on the kid from Nebraska too? He's from TN, so maybe would want to get closer to home...
