Kroger is "charging" unvaccinated employees fifty bucks a month

Kroger stopped short of mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for workers, but said it is "modifying policies to encourage safe behaviors including vaccination." Company officials added the grocer will also continue to offer a one-time $100 bonus to workers that get fully vaccinated.

The $50 surcharge goes into effect Jan. 1 and applies to salaried associates enrolled in a company health plan.

Large companies (my range is >25,000 employees) are almost, if not all, are self insured for healthcare which means they have the data of healthcare costs for vaccinated vs unvaccinated workers. When I was working, my company for years, if not decades, charged more for employee healthcare for smokers vs non-smokers. If a company sees a direct correlation in healthcare costs for vaccinated vs non-vaccinated workers, I see no issue in charging more for healthcare for non-vaccinated workers if they are costing the company more money.

My main concern out of all of this nonsense is that chasing variants with boosters and vax formula mods will create a super-virus that is resistant to everything (including natural immunity).

Good. The blue states will die off then because the red states are sick of the faux mandates of mask wearing, social distancing and being dictated to.

Good point. I hope they are looking at fatties.... smokers..... pregnant women.... all those kinds of high risk things as well. But we are being discriminated against, and that is acceptable.

Do those being charged extra to be unvaxed have an out option, ie with your example you can drop insurance and not pay extra.. and go to a 3rd party.... if there is no other options kroger is infringing on an individuals right of life, and pursuit of happyness...are they charging unvaxed extra to enter the store???or only accepting vaxxed customers

When I was working I suppose I had the choice to smoke/use tobacco or not smoke/use tobacco. If I chose to not use them I was given a "discount/rebate" on my healthcare. Employers can play some wicked games with benefits when they want to. I almost feel somewhat slimy like Hog in my defense of employers.
