The Spyre thing to me was never that impressive. It makes signing deals easy and efficient. What UT needs is donors, businesses, etc being able to offer lucrative NIL deals in the first place.

Yup - we need Pilot Oil putting guys in their ads. We need DirecTV advertising with Vols across the country.

I get it. These guys are running businesses and they want bang for their buck in terms of advertising and you just aren't going to get that right now. But we need them to view it in basically the same way they view a donation to UT - not as an business investment but an investment in something they care about - Vols football. Until the big players start doing that... we won't be competing with the Aggies of the world.

Real talk, if I was a t-shirt print company.

I'd offer every athlete a jersey deal.

Price 'em around the same as anywhere else, but print the names and numbers. Player gets a % of each sale, fans get a jersey, NIL deal helps bring business to the company.

I know @Bassmaster_Vol would be more than happy to get his UT jerseys that way.


Of course I'm guessing being involved with Nike totally ***** on this sort of NIL agreement doesn't it?

I've seen some games. He's quality. I can't gauge him well though, due to their offense, it seems to be a pretty run-heavy style. He does what he's asked and he does it well though.

Where are all of our heavy hitting boosters who were putting money in McDonald’s bags for Pruitt? Just put the money in McDonald’s bags and give them to the businesses instead now.

One of our coaches needs to take Evans' phone, open a Cameo account, and set Evans at $100 to make 1-2 second videos saying "Go Vols." Then post the link out there and let us go crazy. He'll be a millionaire by Sunday.

If other fanbases get ahold of it he could probably have 2-5 mil to his name ("Hotty Toddy" or whatever they want him to say), then he can commit to us anyway.

If I were a blue chip I'd totally have a cameo doing that. Easiest way to make mega cash. Tweet: "Wow, [team] fans going crazy, gonna have to make 500 videos this afternoon. Where are the [other team] fans???"

Once again, the NCAA discourages transparency and cooperation. They are their own worst enemy.

Truth be told all 99.99% of these players including 5 stars are not worth what they want to get from NIL and that’s a hard pill to swallow for them. The intention was to let them profit off themselves not get paid handouts from businesses.

The coaches elected to come to Nashville and meet with him and discuss everything. Everything was good except Spyre. There's no way TCU should make a better offer than UT. Ole Miss I can understand they're SEC and Lane know how to mk it happen based on his experience as a lead recruiter and ROY at USC and Bama plus they have guys like Matthew McCaughey and oil guys who don't mind spending to win. TCU a Christian private school spanked UT and Spyre. Like to be very serious Zach don't care about free Gus chicken. He has to help make sure granny is OK.

Maybe our friends don't want to make this guy their first big transaction. Might not like the risk/reward regardless of his talent level. He has ACLs too. I kind of hope our folks find multiple talented guys that need more than the current stipend money some less than life changing but significant assistance with their college careers. I fear locker room discord with limited prima donna deals for some big fish. Housing, travel assistance, even deals with car dealers with cars etc. Getting this done with a bunch of guys already here could entice guys to come here even without commitments during the recruiting process next year. With the current portal rules some of these guys can keep their handlers shopping for the following years. Not a fan of the current out of control NIL kickoff the courts have initiated.

The Spyre guys were talking like we were about to roar past all these other programs and dunk on people with NIL deals.

Just tell Evans to demand that his jersey be sold at Gus Chicken or whatever the hell at $100 a pop. We'll all go buy one I don't care. I'll buy one for everyone I know for Christmas.

The problem is we are over here trying to do this in the way NIL was intended to work, while everybody else sees it for what it really is...an opportunity to pay for play.

We have a huge loyal fanatic fanbase of common people, we have no rich bastards that give a and are willing to shell out the money it is going to take to sign elite players, so we may as well get used to this, oh and if you think this is bad, just wait till we have a sophomore or freshman go off for a great season and the big money players go after them and offer huge money to come and plug whatever small hole they think they have.

It's going to remain a tough row to hoe for the Tennessee Volunteers, our staff is going to have to do it the hard way...it is what it is.
