Overall Smart did a great job this season and regardless of the outcome Saturday he has a huge chance to redeem himself in the playoff if he can win two more games. Heupel would’ve won COY if he had of beat Ole Miss, Pitt and Florida. Pittman and Kiffie did better coaching jobs than Heupel

Yall are idiots. Smart was clearly SEC CotY. Wasn't even close. Had Heupel gone with Hooker as the starter at the beginning then you might be able to make an argument.

I don’t think Heupel should have won but we aren’t idiots for thinking Kirby shouldn’t have won it. Several other coaches did a lot more with less vs Kirby.

Actually,During the game,Smart is not a word I would use to describe Smart's in game coaching.Fields.fake.run.on fourth.and nine.against.Bama a couple years ago.

No team has ever been the unanimous #1 for as many consecutive weeks as UGA was this yr. Not Bama, Texas, Miami,, Nebraska...

He absolutely earned it, some of yall are just in denial. You don't give the award to a brat like Kiffin who had a Heisman level QB but still had to use cheap gimmicks to defeat lesser talented teams. Nor do you give it to Pittman at 8-4. Had he beat OM & Bama, then absolutely would be an argument. Heupels man crush on Milton is the reason we finished 7-5 instead of 8-4 or 9-3, nothing more needs to be said there. Stoops deserved some consideration but that was not going to happen after they lost to us.

Kirby may end up with another 2 loss season. How would that be a big improvement over what he has accomplished in the past especially with arguably the most talented roster in cfb. We used to want to fire Fulmer after 2 loss seasons.
No we didn’t. That was the 4 loss seasons

I agree 7 was impressive. But Kiffin just finished second in the SECW in only his second season at Ole MS. The west is loaded. It’s insanely impressive what he’s done there.

If CJH wins 10 games in his second season, he will have my endorsement

The west is in the crapper this year. LSU way down. Auburn new coach, down. Texas A&M, major flop. Right now the league is Alabama, Georgia and a bunch of teams that could all play 10 times and go 5-5, then Vandy and late season Florida.

Yeah, the west isn’t in the crapper. What’re you basing that one? The west is loaded

Lol at some of the people on here saying Kirby did a terrible job this year and doesn’t deserve COY. We would kill to have go undefeated in the regular season and be in the playoff right now and be relevant again on the national stage.

I would have given it to Kiffin by Pittman is the man to watch, Kiffin has probably peaked.

The West is Alabama and a bunch of average teams. We beat Mississippi, the 2nd best team in the west, on the field. Who was a great team there besides Alabama?

I think you’re living in an alternate universe. The west was absolutely loaded. No we didn’t beat Ole MS. From top to bottom to no division in college football comes close. I’ll take the last place team in the west against the 3rd best team anywhere and against the 2nd best team almost anywhere

Kirby couldn't even win the SEC with the caliber of talent he had. That falls on the coach. No way he should have gotten COY.

Could smart or Kiffin coached this same UT team to 7 wins? It’s one thing to coach 3 of the last 4 top recruiting classes than coaching a team that had 30 transfers in the off season, under investigation and under a first year head coach.

I'm not sure if you're aware of it or not. But, those recruiting classes are about 1/3 if a college head coaches job. So, that actually bolsters a coaches pedigree in my book. Whether our HC can pull off such remains to be seen
