The innocent stage of NIL is over…every Texas Longhorn OL will be paid $50,000 a year thru an NIL deal recently announced. In addition, Texas announced today an NIL fund has been established with boosters and corporations to pay select new players a large “bonus” upon becoming Longhorns (I thought this was illegal….apparently not). This is the tip of the iceberg.

It is quickly becoming a money game, and the NCAA has washed their hands of it. Up to state legislators to run now. Every position group will have to be compensated as well soon. Watch the dominoes effects now.

States like Texas and California start off with built in financial advantages, but states like Alabama for example will learn how to be competitive quickly, probably through National NIL deals. The old days of collegiate athletics are dead.

keep this far away from the womens game I like the innocent NIL deals like T-shirt’s and merch deals 😂😂 we can’t compete with these other states and programs like UConn and UCLA

Sheppard playing pretty well but Kitley having a tough night again so far. Their coach is right, if he can get his interior and perimeter players going at once he’ll be in business.

They need to push the ball better to do that though. Even on made baskets their guards need to try to get transition buckets. Amoore and Sheppard are both very capable, Amoore likes to push pace especially.

Then when they don’t have anything they’ve got to make a pointed effort to go inside to Kitley. It’s either been 3s or inside play early in the season for them. Not able to get both rolling at once.

This will be Tina Thompson’s last season at UVA. Got to be. They are very likely to go 0fer in the ACC and won’t have COVID to use as an excuse to bail. You’d think after taking most of last season off she would have a better system in place. Doesn’t seem they took advantage like Duke did.

Lots of players playing really well in the SEC. Aliyah Boston barely missed a basket 22-25? and averaged 20 something and 15 but still wasn’t even co-player.

Blackwell has been a double double machine she still managed well against Baylor. I’m still not convinced Baylor is all that this season, time will tell. Coulibaly also had a great shooting week. Barely missed a shot as well.

Honestly Liberty is a really good looking ball club! They have lots of size in the middle. Their 6’5” of the bench is great defensively. She’s a SO but a lot like Tamari as a FR. They have given VTech a lot of trouble in the paint. Kitley is worn out.

The Liberty guards are very patient. They get the right shot on most possessions. They play solid defense and their on ball defense is great. They have given VT guards far more problems than we did the other night.

Dang that’s cold. She’s a good player, took a HARD back seat to Harmon this season. Won’t be surprised if she goes to play for Karen based on that statement.

Individually maybe, but collectively, being 8-0 right now without Burrell is quite an accomplishment. Especially bc several of the games, like Sunday, have been come from behind, gut it out, find a way wins that definitely would have been losses in the past.

Two Vandy players in the portal now. Will be the second transfer for Bartram. I feel bad for kids who made a transfer and then experienced a coaching change. Seems a lot of them end up transferring again when that happens.

Neither player has been particularly impactful in their recent games. Bartram started 8 games but seemed to fall out of favor the last few.

Normal shakeout for them I’d say. I think we are seeing that with the taboo taken out of transferring some players are willing to throw in the towel mid season. Hardly ever used to see that and now there are already 5 pages of transfers for this year on the transfer blog. Coaches really have to manage their players carefully these days.

Doesn’t really matter but I find it annoying that they won’t post the Lady Vols. They very begrudgingly make posts about us if people comment enough about our players accomplishments or point out that we had a big win or an upset. Otherwise they post all kinds of great content. Just not sure why the Lady Vols get no love.

Thanks, I have no clue either. Would think they’d post some Duke content of that were the case. Hasn’t been much to post about for 4-5 seasons though.

Just wish they’d spread the love a little more. Lady Vols are good for the game. We have a great fan base and it’s getting more active again. No reason not to encourage that excitement on the National Level.

I messaged the acct once about not posting something that was pretty big for us. Got a snarky response in return. Don’t even remember what they said now.
