His body of works elsewhere but UT. He tried to run “his” defense at UT without compensating for lack of talent. You just can’t do that, but he refused to budge. Defense wise that was his downfall. He did not play to the strength of his guys. He ran his system and it hurt him.

Like Hank said he was not used to having spot drop off after the 1s.

This is also why he isn’t a good Head Coach. But the guy knows his X’s and O’s to deny that is just ridiculous and shows the bias in your posting.

You don’t have to like the man lol but at least be willing to be truthful.

Coaches are only a “guru” in what they know tho. Teaching offense or defense in general is so tedious you have to know every single small detail/foot work/hand placement/eye progression etc for every single position on the field.

So all those guys like Kirby, Pruitt, lanning, muschamp are gurus of that system. They know it. Heupel is a guru of the Briles system, Paul Johnson was a guru of the flex bone. Some systems are easier to install and get started. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned the last handful of years is that everyone is pretty much doing the same things. The front office/admin, HC relationships, locker room chemistry, etc all that is so much more important than how much ball your head coach knows. That’s probably the 8th most important thing when you’re in that chair.
Heupel has also adjusted his system several times at his different stops to fit what he has on hand to work with, and has done it excellently...Pruitt either can't adjust, or will not adjust..

I just saw a commercial for something called "butcherbox". They said, "free bacon for life". That has to be a trick.
It's easy to give away bacon for life because there's a good chance you won't live very long eating bacon all the time :):):)

Slurp...slurp..slurp...
I'll also say this about Pruitt...
Kiffin hire, I was ok with it...personally I think we should have offered Urban Myer as much money as he wanted, but...
Dooley...I wanted to kill Mike Hamilton, and so began my sleepwalk.
Butch...laughed when he was hired, and pretty much knew it would end the way it did...besides Josh Dobbs and Derek Barnett, and Alvin against Texas A&M, we sucked. Fell into severe apathy.
The moment Pruitt was mentioned, I researched him all the way back to his high school coaching days, and was sold he was the guy...before he was even hired, I was convinced. He snapped me out of my apathy. When he was hired, I was fully bought in, and still am...thank you so very much, Danny White and Josh Heupel!!

I was monumentally wrong. I carried water for the dude into the Kentucky game, and then I was out. Again, I was wrong. Not only was I wrong, I don't believe I've ever seen as epic of a failure, tbh. I mean, I seriously watched the guy ride Jarrett Guarantano into a raging fire, that became one of the biggest sh!t heaps I've ever laid eyes on. It was extraordinary, and made me want to commit assault.

With that said, NOWHERE NEAR being wrong for not believing Pruitt is a "fraud" and "can't coach". It's one of the most absurd takes I've ever heard. I mean, I understand why it's even a take at all, of course I do; but, to say that he was successful at those other places only because he had the talent and foundation, it's ludicrous.
