Damn that’s no good.

I did a 14 mile prep run this morning and it was freaking terrible. Such a grind. Hope next week’s 15 is better.

Knocked out 10 two weekends ago then a quick 7 last week mid run. Should have shut it down then but wanted to get 13 under my belt last weekend. Calf seized up sharply on a downhill slope. Thought it would maybe loosen up or I could work through it but got a lot worse. Took 6 days off, tried to do shake out run yesterday and couldn’t get a mile once I hit a steady downhill. Tomorrow will be interesting physically and mentally.

On a more meaningful note, I went to the expo last night and was fortunate enough to be able to participate in the “Heroes” portion. Getting to walk through everything and meet some of the families of patients was incredibly emotional. The overwhelming gratitude each of them expressed to strangers running a race was a lot to take in. Despite their children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews battling cancer they spent their time and undoubtedly emotional capital thanking us. Running through the St Jude campus tomorrow with the families present will be such an unforgettable experience.

Lord willing I will never not participate in this event for as long as I live. Thanks again to you guys who generously donated.
