Then why call one a vaccine and the other not? Why does the press characterize one as a vaccine and the other one is just a shot? I have never heard the flu shot called a vaccine, even from the healthcare professionals administering it to me.
The “flu shot” is just the common way of saying influenza vaccine. It’s all about simple terms and language. People better understand “flu shot.” It’s no more complicated than that. It’s just basic marketing.
If you look at the prescription documentation you receive when you get your “flu shot,” you’ll see the term “influenza vaccine.”
