Well you aren’t factoring in another 1800 minor league at bats for Shea. We shouldn’t call him up until he proves he can hit .400 in The SipPina is actually an overqualified backup. I’m fine with the move for 2022 like I was fine with RFA. I just don’t get why TDA/Pina are both on the books for 2023.
Probably because Pina wouldn’t sign a 1 year deal at his age. I’ve said since they extended TAD, that he was trade capital at some point; if not this season then next. Willie will be traded also and Pina could be flipped, but is insurance so Shea can get a month or 2 at Gwinnett to save a year of control(pending the new CBA). Good Catchers are hard to find as Braves have seen the past few years, so pick them up early; someone will pay you for one if you want to sell. The second year to Pina just for doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t und erstand that one.
What is Coppy even doing now? He was pretty young when he got banned.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It seems like he was basically doing an end around on MLB's international signing rules and was basically engaged in recruiting kids. I just have a hard time believing that he was the only one doing it and nobody else knew what was going on. If he was talking to kids when he shouldn't have been, obviously he needed to be sanctioned, but what could he have done that was so bad that MLB wanted him out of the sport?Did we ever hear his side of the story? I don't recall. Probably has an agreement to not discuss it
