AJs last year...he had become a complete LB. He was crushing fools at the point of attack which he had not done to that point. The criticism if him until that point was fair.Folks literally said the exact same stuff about AJ Johnson. Low and behold, the guy fights through a ton of adversity, misses multiple years of playing football, and becomes a starter in the NFL.
It’s uncanny how the same things are being recycled with Banks.
He is going to have get bigger and stronger, and I believe he has the frame for it. He is doing what almost every kid learning a position on the job does..reacting slower because he is thinking too much. That takes a while to overcome except for a few unique players.Yes but he is playing ILB with the size of a safety
I love the mentality but it's easy for anyone to say that while sitting in the stands. He's never played remotely close to this level of football so if we get him time will tell.. lord knows I hope he's right and comes here to do it."I saw sometimes they were going man coverage, and the linebackers would have to go guard the slot receivers and running backs," Tolan continued. "I feel like I could lock up those players. When it was running plays, I saw linebackers filling wrong gaps or just overrunning. I feel like I could fill that position better than they could."
No LB in America could stop Corral from getting chunk yardage on scrambles with our D Line who lost lane integrity a multitude of times. Blaming one position group is lazy. I sit in the North end zone and our dline was like the red sea half the time. Against ole miss you either drop eight and live with Corral running or leave your safeties to get shredded by him on passes.
Banks literally just has to learn how to get off of a block. If he learns that he will be hard to stop.On rewatching games it is crazy how much they target Banks to run at Beasley. If the kid improves and gets stronger over the next year, that will cause us to stop a lot of thisand get the defense off the field quicker...which will lead our offense to scoring even more points..
It is amazing how bad that kid is playing, and how his struggle is effectively altering the whole teams performance.
I feel like we are covering for deficiencies on our defense which leaves us more open to QB runs…..ole miss was releasing lineman downfield to block our linebackers…. Kentucky watched the film and did the same thing. We saw it when Hooker scrambled vs GA and FL. He got a couple but nothing consistent like every QB does against us
This take is popular here but so wrong, you really think he'd be starting at Bama if he couldn't cover? He was our best player on D and covered up other weak areas. You're effing kidding? Dude couldnt cover crap. PFF routinely ranks him as the worst of Bammers linebackers. Forget it. Give me what we have and lets roll.
