White Castle has followed the Taco Bell formula of lots of oddball limited time menu items to get people in the stores. Kryz seems content to stick with their traditional menu and Southern identity.

Nashville has both but Kryz has been closing a lot of stores in my neck of the woods. I know Kryz was bought about a decade ago by a company that moved the HQ from Chattanooga to Atlanta.
I'm not sure about White Castle "can't " have a store close to Krystal. The article I read in Restaurant magazine didn't mention that, it just said because of competition it would open the door.

There used to be White Castles in Miami. The founder lived down here and had a couple built. But because all of their stores are company owned its not cost effective to ship the products from thier supply facility which is in Ohio, Columbus I think. It's a family owned and operated business. They have a bakery too that is pretty popular up North too.

Yeah. There is a White Castle on Broadway in Nashville and a Krystal nearby on Charlotte. I’m not sure why we’ve lost so many Kryz in Nashville lately. I figured someone wanted to cash in on their real estate but a couple are in prime areas and still sit empty. I went to college with a member of the Davenport family that started Kryz. He had a special card that got him free food at any location.

Is this not correct? I read not long ago that Krystal had filed for chapter 11 and that would open the door for White Castles.

That is West Town Mall. I haven't been there in years. There may or may not be one in that mall but I can't find any proof online that there is one. I could drive down there I guess. The White Castle website says there is none in my area so it is definitely confusing.

Thought you’re in Murfreesboro. I know they have Kryz.

Well, I found that on the internet and it shows there is one in Knoxville. And you know what they say....

As I said, don't eat fast food often. No Krystals where I live or where I have lived for nearly a decade.

Krystals are quietly shutting down locations for sure. In the Nashville area I know of two that are gone - Nolensville Rd/OHB (torn down), 8th Ave south (replaced by Chk Fil A). The location in Donelson is still open but they havent opened their dining room since the pandemic hit. Only drive thru.

I think I posted elsewhere on this. I’m in Green Hills. Our Kryz closed a few years ago and sits empty, supposedly to be used for a land swap when CVS’s lease is up so they can align Glen Echo a with Crestmoor and eliminate a traffic light, which may actually help with flow on Hillsboro. As you mentioned, Berry Hill Kryz is now Chick fil A. Belle Meade Kryz is closed and empty. I hardly ever actually eat at Kryz, but it was a late night staple in my teens and 20s, so there’s a nostalgia factor. Usually, when I eat that stuff my stomach rebels. I’ll probably do myself dirty at The Varsity tomorrow if traffic isn’t too bad.

The multiple Bankruptcys likely have something to do with it....
