I got my Tennessee booster shot. Now all my money is disappearing to ex coaches.Speaking of COVID, I got my Pfizer booster yesterday. It’s amazing - the Bill Gates microchip is barely noticeable at all. And, my 5G cell reception is fantastic all of a sudden!
In all seriousness, I got my booster AND flu shot in the same arm - a little sore today in the arm, but no other side effects.![]()
Fun stats (haven't checked this against other SEC teams)
3 WRs with 300+ yards and at least 5 TDs (Payton, Jones, Tillman)
3 rushers with 350+ yards on at least 75 attempts with a YPC over 4 (Evans, Small, Hooker)
Also Velus now has over 1k total yards (including his yardage from returns) - leads SEC in KR yards and is 3rd in PR yards
Only UT & Bama have 2 WRs in the top 10 in receiving yards.
I was thinking screens to the RBs more than the WRs. Anything to try and slow their front 7 down. I think we are going to be surprised by how well our offense works against them. This defense has not had to move as much as they are going to and rotate players in. I just hope we dont spend our running plays on running up the middle. Got to protect HH and if HH has to roll out then so be it. I still think Tn moves the ball on UGA. I am more worried about our D getting stops. T Banks has been exposed since Ole Miss. Not for sure if Tn wins but Heup is going to put them in position to have a chance.I don’t know about the screen game out wide. They press which means those WR screens in the flats are prone to go the other way for a pick 6. I’m not really sure how you attack this defense successfully, except going fast like we do and making things confusing for them. Maybe screen game in middle of field? Mizzou had success running the ball between the tackles. I think that’s the only way you can run it, because they have too much speed to go sideline to sideline. Maybe we install a speed option attack. We will definitely have to make some first downs early in order to keep going fast and get their DL tired. I really hope we win the toss and go on defense first. For some reason, our best games have been going on defense first and calling aggressively to stop the opposing offense and turn the ball over to the offense. Then go down and score. It seems like Saturday night was one of the only times we got the ball to open the game and went down to score.
I agree about how to call the defense. We absolutely need to be aggressive every single down and play with nothing to lose. Blitz, blitz, and blitz some more from every possible angle….corner blitzes, nickel blitzes, safety, inside LB. Stunt the DL. Get creative on wreaking havoc and disrupting the flow of their offense. Will we get burnt some? Yes, but that is a lot better than being gashed every single drive for the entire drive and still giving up scores. We will create some turnovers too, as well as cause penalties. This is the game plan that I think gives us the best outside chance to be in the game in the 4th quarter with a chance to win.
"acquaintance" is a little strong. he's a guy that used to message me frequently on twitter. definitely has an ax to grind for whatever reason, but i do think he likes the attention his ****** takes bring.
Crazy that Mizzou with a second year head coach and South Carolina with a 1st year coach are doing so much better than us in recruiting when we spanked them this season. I think early signing will be interesting this year with how the season has played out. I almost hope Stoops does bounce from Kentucky because they have a couple of OTs and LBs we could use.
It is not that surprising considering what we have had to deal with off the field. These coaches at other programs were able to tell recruits that they might not play in a bowl game for multiple seasons if they were to play at Tennessee.Crazy that Mizzou with a second year head coach and South Carolina with a 1st year coach are doing so much better than us in recruiting when we spanked them this season. We are actually doing slightly better than SC right now bc our average is higher….. they just have more commits…. I wouldn’t worry too much about it bc ratings has been all jacked up due to covid.Crazy that Mizzou with a second year head coach and South Carolina with a 1st year coach are doing so much better than us in recruiting when we spanked them this season. Only if they fake it/constantly offsides/not set/in fake formations.Ah, that does make some sense. I did not think about that. I am still not sure that it will simulate the speed with which our offense lines up, though.
