I have always wanted to do the bourbon trail. Good excuse to buy something to keep me warm.

Bourbon has come along way since regular jim beam. I lost an a discussion with my wife and had to go to lexington but we did hit lots of distilleries.

Okay so I live here in Lexington, it’s a great city.

1. Park at Glendover Elementary $10 (it’s a shortish walk through the arboretum and you’ll avoid traffic.

2. Places to eat (Ramsey’s, Carsons, Charlie Browns, Drakes)

3. Things to do (Buffalo Trace is about 30 min outside of town, tours are probably booked already). Drive over to Keeneland and check it out, no Live racing but you should be able to get in and explore the grounds.

4. Places to drink (Mr. Brews Taphouse, Country Boy Brewing, Mirror Twin, LexLive is neat and has bowling etc next to Rupp Arena.

People keep talking about the cold, game time temp is 50 degrees, it’s not that bad.

Enjoy the game and hope we get the W.

Great information. Thank you!!

We liked Kentucky Horse Park. The live shows are a bit chessey, but not too bad.

They have a couple of Kentucky Derby winners there. One named 'Go for Gin' tried to bite off my left hand.

My fault...I mentioned that we were 33-2 against Big Blue which obviously pissed him off.

I only went with the band, and it was the most bitter fan base I'd ever seen. They weren't angry, they weren't mean, they were just bitter.

Extremely bitter bunch up there. And, they HAAAAAAAAAAATE the color orange.

It is great actually. Most fun I had in quite some time.

1 - Dress warm, wind gets pretty cold when it swirls.

2 - Try and grab a meal at The Blue Heron Steakhouse while you are in town, it’s not near the stadium though so don’t plan on eating and walking. Winchell’s Bar and Grill is a great place for some brews and good bar food before the game, that’s where we’ll be. Get there early if going.

3 - Be prepared for some insufferable UK fans, never minded making the trip into Commonwealth Stadium through the years because UK football fans pretty much knew their place and weren’t all that bad, they’ve gotten uppity and worse over the last few years though. My last 5 or 6 trips to Lexington they’ve been a little less on showing class. Still some good people there though.

I enjoyed my 2 visits to Carsons

Wear a jacket and a hat. Both in orange if possible.

Bring Tennessee Whiskey. Drink copiously to help stay warm.

Be ready for some arrogant fans trash-talking before the game (winning is a new thing for them in football in my experience there).

Constantly remind said fans that the one thing that can always be counted on in this "rivalry" is Tennessee beating Kentucky's *ss. Especially remind said arrogant fans of this you see reality begin to wash back over their faces as a UT victory becomes evident.

My last visit there ended with lots of vague 4th quarter references consisting of, "well, just wait for basketball season!" But now... you know... Barnes.

Wouldn't that be something ?
Sounds too good to be true. Kroger would be giving a bunch of $0.10 off per gallon after games if they took Kroger cards.

Yeah I fell for that one. Too good to be true. That would be a pretty good promotion though. Takes long enough to go through concession lines without having to scan cards.

Eat at Drakes if you’re looking for bar food, get the sriracha wings. Malones for a moderately priced steak. They’re next to each other in two locations, Hamburg (near I75 exit 108) or Tate’s Creek (somewhat closer to campus).

Park at one of the houses on Nicholasville rd. (Have some cash handy).

If they’re doing anything special for pre-game it’s a new thing. I think they may do a player walk from the new practice facility on the southeast side of the stadium. The tailgate scene is pretty cool as the stadium is basically surrounded by parking and open fields and they’ve done a lot to the athletics facilities around the stadium lately. The whole area is actually pretty nice now.
