This is hilarious, but I bet this is
common practice that Yancy’s just getting called out for. These recruiting reporters don’t exactly strike me as the Woodward and Bernstein types. Also his name is Yancy.

Heupel was an underwhelming hire but it could have been so much worse.
You know why it was so much of this fan base considered Heupel an underwhelming hire? Because our dumbasses thought that even though we were about to hire our 5th HC since 2009 and our program was just put under the eye of the NCAA because of gump and his dumbass violations....we thought we were going to pull someone like James Franklin or Matt Campbell....lmao. No proven coach was touching this job. We are very lucky to Heupel and atleast a HC that had actual experience as the head man. So...for all that this program has gone through since 2009....Heupel was not an underwhelming hire....this fanbase does not know when or how to temper expectations.

That is why fake insiders are harmful to the board.. they get a following to really believe in the fairy tails, and then they come crashing down once the air is cleared and are mad the world bc things didn’t turn out anything like what their insider overlord hinted

So USCe fans were upset with the loss until Beamer’s post game comments. Now, at least on Reddit, they believe they won the 2nd half and would have won the game if it weren’t for the endzone interception. They are downvoting anyone who disagrees.

It was considered an underwhelming hire because it was underwhelming. You're not wrong at all but no one was setting their sights for Josh Heupel, they just weren't. Even next go around (hopefully not within 10 years), no one's going to be pulling for us to hire the current UCF head coach. It's not wrong for fans of a University to hold their school in high regard, they should temper expectations and not pout when it doesn't happen though, which I think we did a decent job of this time for the most part.

It was an immediate step up though because Heupel had HC experience (unlike Pruitt) and won at a high level (unlike Dooley). Those two NEVER should have sniffed this job.

Agreed!!…for me it’s beating someone with clout..then I’ll get on the hype train…with that being said I’m not talking away from anything he’s accomplished..I’m impressed with the “more with less” narrative🤌🏼
siap, but each staff that's been here before has had various "opportunity" games early in the tenure, be it year 1, 2 or even 3. most every time, we've come up short or laid an egg. each one was a big opportunity for that staff to leave a mark, make an impact and put a stamp on their version of this program. Kiffin had one in 09 against Bama. Dooley had a couple, the LSU game comes to mind...Butch had way more than his fair share of these types of games....Pruitt too.

point being, this Saturday night is one of those opportunities for CJH and co. now, losing Saturday night is not a sin, it's not an indictment or anything, so don't get me wrong.

but it sure would be nice to skip the moral victory stuff and all the talk of the "if's" that, had they gone the other way, we'd of been victorious.

the heck with all that. just go win the damn game. let's leave the 'if's' to somebody else. go be that team. we're playing meaningful football in mid october. i mean, we could still win the East lol...think about that? so anyway, i'd really like this saturday night not to be a 13 UGA, 09 Bama, 15 OU, 15 FL.....type game.
i'm thinking 1990 FL, or 1995 Bama. or 01 Florida......yeah, that'd be nice. i'd like that.

You guys notice that Coach Heup always ends his press conferences by telling the reporters and everyone else in the room the "have a great afternoon" after leaving the podium? I'm aware that that has nothing to do with whether or not he'll be a successful coach, but it's refreshing to me. It's nice to have a coach that seems to enjoy his job, as well as the more annoying aspects of the job like mandatory meetings with the press. The loser we had before him always seemed grumpy and annoyed when talking to the press, kinda like how my stepson pouts whenever I ask him to do basically anything at all.

He ends interviews with "go Vols" as often as not too. Knows it's not all about him.

It's way tougher than people are admitting. I think if everyone is truly back from injury then we fair much better.
for me, i think it's got to do with the fact that we've seen OM do what they're doing for a full season, plus. we've seen 2 games of it for TN.

so who should you have more confidence in? the one that's been doing it longer or the new guy? so i get that, and don't disagree with it.

but on football alone, we're capable of matching points with Ole Miss, and if we continue the relatively mistake free play we've shown the past two weeks, Ole Miss's defense isn't going to stop us a ton. i expect we'll run a lot, and wear out that defensive front, and take our shots as they come available. so if you don't have drive killing penalties or turn it over....it could be a basketball game.

defenisvely , well, this is a way more difficult match up than we've faced all year. Pitt's offense is obviously very good. but they don't play the tempo and they're not as apt to getting the gigantic plays from their offense that OM can/will. it's going to be interesting to see how Banks calls this game.

in the end, i think this game winds up high scoring, but not the 80+ points....mid 60's-70, and i think this game comes down to something in special teams...missed fg's, return game...something.

i'm nervous, but not because of the football team we're playing. i believe we can play with this team. it's because of the situation. this is a huge opportunity for TN. and i'd really like to see us take advantage of it, and not pucker up and squander it like we've done more times than i can remember.

Anyone was a step up from JP. I will never forget how boring those 3 years of UT football were. There were people at the beginning of this year that thought Pruitt should still be coaching.
