The fact that Arch Manning is not even visiting UT...

UT is not even a school that Arch Manning is considering...He is not even visiting UT. I think this shows where we are as a program.
He wasn't going to come here anyways, Why would he waste a visit here?...I'm sure he has visited UT a lot in the past and seen everything he needs to see....I think Texas is the team to beat for him...I think he wants to pave his own path and not be in the shadows of his families schools.

If I were him I would seriously consider Ole Miss for Kiffin and the family tradition would just seal the deal.

Other than that I would just trust the feel that I got from visits with the head coach and OC/QB coach.

Peyton was here and Eli went to Ole Miss for coach Cutcliffe.

He owes UT nothing. I can't say that Heupel has enough of a track record to be a factor until he has a little more time under his belt at this level.

Kind of funny that if he had just about any other last name he would likely only be a 2-3*. It is going to be a huge jump for him from HS playing 2a talent and coming to a big time program. Not saying his pedigree and ability are not there or wont be. I just cant see how playing 2a talent currently has him listed as a 5*.

It's literally the same school that Peyton and Eli played at. I think he'll be OK.

People need to realize Peyton was the one who strayed away in the Manning family. Archie will go to Ole Miss, just his father would have, his uncle did, and his grandfather did. The only way that’s not the case is if Kirby drops some serious cash on him, which we know he’ll try to do.
Throwing money at a Manning would be a dumb move. They’re their own corporation. That move gets you crossed off the list.

Is he considering Florida, TX A&M, Ohio St, Penn St, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, or some of the other top programs? They must suck too...

We all get that our program is not good right now, but recruits do not consider every school. Arch will make the decision to play at a school that best fits his skills and ensures that he is surrounded by great players.

It says nothing at all. Literally nothing.

Archie went to Ole' Miss. Peyton decided on Tennessee ultimately because of Cutcliffe. Eli went to Ole' Miss because Chris Simms chose Texas over UT, and we were never even an option for him.

Arch is going to go to whatever school he thinks gives him the best shot at getting into the NFL, just like every other top recruit.

Chris Simms was committed to us before flipping. I think he “considered us”.

I have to think you picked up on this some time during the last 20 years. I don't think we need Arch to take any special effort to "Show where we are". He might have a chance to play for somebody who's good. Let's be reasonable.

Or it shows that he has no interest in playing for UT.... he doesn't want to play in Uncle Peyton's shadow.

Causes aren't always the most negative you can imagine.

I agree with this. If you think the Bailey crowd is bad. It would be 100x worse if he was here. I do not blame the kid for wanting to crest his own legacy else where.

Actually, no it doesn't.

All it really shows is you have taken a data point and used it to justify your own biases and projections. Only Arch and his family are privy to his reason behind his recruitment. There is no guarantee Arch would come here even if we were Bama-level dominant.

Were I Arch, I wouldn't want to follow a legend family member to a school he at which he is revered. I would want to blaze my own trail. Create my own legacy. Become revered on my own terms.
Exactly.
Ole miss and Tennessee are both out.

The subject of that sentence was Eli, who in fact did not consider UT. It was Florida, Texas and Ole' Miss. Simms flipping to Texas is why Eli didn't choose them.

Needed some commas…it was really convoluted. Are you saying fear of SIMMS was the deciding factor? Not family tradition and respect for Cutcliffe? VN…rewriting history since 2005. 😏

Tennessee hasn't developed a qb in years and runs an offense that seems to prioritize running ability over passing. Why would he come here?

Arch probably has little to no interest in Tennessee. Remember, people were surprised that Manning even came here. The Manning’s are royalty at Ole Piss. And let’s be honest, even if he asked Peyton’s opinion, do you really think Peyton would say Tennessee is his best option just because he went here and loves the school?

Peyton will likely give him a realistic take. Arch may not even be a good fit in the current offense. Isn’t he more of a pocket passer?

Regardless of Arch Mannings college choice, our program is as bad as the OP is implying; this is irrelevant for the fans to do, but the administration has to look it in the face. I'm not sure they even care though.
