The 18 of you obviously are only seeing what you want to see. You are forgetting about 9 dang players on a punt return without a damn returner at all, you are forgetting about penalty after penalty after penalty, you are ignoring a past resume of extreme penalties, you are forgetting about a delay of game backbreaking penalty on 4th down.

this is the honeymoon period where posters refuse to see bad news when it smacks them in the face
Yep because every mistake is a coaches fault, right? 🙄 Nothing is ever on the players

Who wants to fire him?

Well, it seems we are isolating his problems and issues. So what comes next after we’ve isolated all of those?

For what it’s worth, Clemson had more penalties than first downs against NC State. Is that what we will remember Dabo Swinney for?

Heup statistically has lots of penalties through his career

Well, first of all it’s a discussion board. We’re simply discussing the situation. Secondly, you’re comparing one Dabo game vs years of Heupel history.

I’m just pointing out that Heupel’s teams always have a lot of penalties. We’re the 11th most yardage penalized team in college football so far this year. Will it always be that bad? Maybe or maybe not but we won’t suddenly become a disciplined team. It’s just not his style.

If the stats have been checked and this is true, it's definitely cause for concern.

It would be nice to know the distribution by penalty type (i.e offense vs. defense, percentage that are false starts from the fast-paced offense, etc.). Because we've had more than our share of 15-yard penalties this year which I still hold out hope is an anomaly. And I would assume part of Heupel's teams having a high number of penalties is simply due to the fact that they run more plays.

did we really ever improve under Pruitt?

Butch had some decent teams.
i think if we did, Pruitt would still be here, so no. and Butch's "decent" teams did the same thing this team has done. lost the "woulda/coulda/shoulda" games, got blown out by rivals and lost games they shouldn't have.

in fact, it's probably going along the same basic script as the past two guys. bad situation to start, measure success on incremental improvements, intangibles and just being "different" from the last guy....recruiting early will be underwhelming....we'll see just enough by the end of the year to say "ok, let's see what happens next year".

but that wasn't the questions/topic raised, it was about 1st year declarations.. or 'way too early' judgements on a staff that's 4 games in to their career here..... it should be noted though, that in each of the last two coaches, those that were early on the "this guy sucks" bus, were ultimately proven right. so, there's a lean to that side simply because of that too.

i think it's too early to say CJH is bad because of what we've seen so far. I think it's too early to say everything's gonna be great too.

but i understand the sentiment that has someone hedging toward bad, because there hasn't been anything except a faster paced offense, to distinguish the difference in results so far, vs. the last guy(s). throw in the mistake prone, undisciplined play, another blow out loss to a supposed rival, and losing a woulda/coulda/shoulda game....it looks an awful lot like what it's looked like for the past 7-8 years. rational thought says that's because of situation, not because of CJH and co. he inherited a team that's identity was that. so it shouldn't be a surprise that's how we've fared so far.

picking a hill to die on right now in regards to the fate of this staff....well, i'd say that's premature.

whoa, picking a hill? im supporting the staff blindly. the heart is telling the mind its gonna be ok.

you tell yourself what you need to hear. im tired of pessimism. we are all wildly aware of the many deficits this team has.

just win.

i was saying that in general, not to you specifically. chill. lol.

Is this from a generalized summary from a Vol site which tries to spin it in a better light? I’m not saying that maybe some season tickets will decrease, but I bet most will increase. Everyone I know is not renewing because the cost drastically increased.
It was either something sent to me or something reported….. not sure which….. I do know that grandfathered seats is an issue bc I use to shake my head when they would agree to do that every time they make changes…. I do believe that changes were needed over there and am willing to trust DW to work his plan….. it’s on him if it doesn’t work out.

also, those two things are in direct conflict with one another, as the lack of the latter, influences the former. just sayin'.

I feel pretty good about our run game vs Missouri. They have struggled mightily stopping the run.

I hope so...without Cooper though we've struggled running the ball. Only two games this season have we had over 150 yards rushing. And the TTU game we had 2 long QB runs to get there.

My thoughts on the Florida Fair catch. It was an illegal fair catch. It should have counted against them. Granted we still had targeting but it was an illegal fair catch that is for sure.

The Florida player did not wave his hand over his head. He waved it shoulder level and not only did he wave it shoulder level he waived it super late.
He waved it slightly, right before he got hit. Probably a targeting call anyway, but as you said-- that wasn't a fair catch.

if you want to find someone to argue with today im sure @butchna would be happy to oblige. sorry man, dont have time or energy to spend hitting the tennis ball against the wall today.

This team is better than last year's team even with only 71 scholly players. I don't know how anybody could watch the games and not see that. They had the opportunity to win against Pitt and were clearly competing and in the game against UF through 3 quarters in the swamp. A FG miss and a pass drop away from being tied. Heup is working a lot of guys into the rotation in all the position groups. That's what he should do in his first season to learn who can get it done in games, not just practice. Injuries are going to make them look especially bad as they dig deeper into the roster to find bodies. It may also turn up some gems for this season and the future.

Heup is implementing a total system change, a new way to do business type deal. To expect us to win toss-up games may be a bit premature because the program does not know how to win yet besides not having the roster. Add in uncertainty at the most important position on the field and you get what you have seen. Solve that one problem and you can win a couple of toss-up games and pull off a 6-6 or 7-5. If the QB mess continues, they will finish 4-8 or 5-7. It is what it is. Just enjoy the season while it is here and watch the choice of and development of the players more instead of the W/L column.

Yeah, it’s too soon to tell anything really. I think Heupel is much more qualified to be our head coach. He has enough prior success to make me think he can get us to 8 or 9 wins eventually. Guys like Dooley and Pruitt NEVER should have been here.

Wishful thinking.

Stroud was benched due to injury but McCord played pretty well so I'm hoping he takes Stroud's job.

Everyone apparently hates Rattler now, so some think he leaves lol.

I watched QB1 on Netflix and when Rattler was on, he was such a cocky A-hole, not sure unless he's humbled quite a bit that I'd want him on the Hill... Definitely would be an upgrade in talent though...
