Did they change the rules of who can get the booster shot? I seem to remember back in August that everyone would be eligible to get a third vaccine 8 months after they received their second. But with the new guidelines it seems it’s only available to people over 65.

Got this message from a friend of mine in Ohio, been weighing on me, feel helpless.

i just got home from 6 hours at the ER....and yes it is covid.....my chest x-ray came back good tho, and my oxygen level was still 96% DR was very happy with that and said i was a candidate for a monoclonal antibody infusion, so i agreed and they gave it to me while i was there along with some potassium and nausea med.....my sister is in bad trouble tho ...so please send up some prayers for her....she has the covid pneumonia and is too bad to be a candidate for the antibody treatment......they were still trying to find a hospital that can take her when i was discharged

i am scared for her

the dr kept lookingn me right in the eyes when he say just how bad she was

like he wanted me to understand its very very bad

we been suffering trying to pretend it was not covid

stupid

dad has the cough...i am calling his DR tomorrow

the nurse at the ER says they prescribe him the antibody treatment as an outpatient

My friends sister is home recovering. So relieved, thanks for your prayers.

The infectious disease Dr we see for the Red Woman is cautiously optimistic that after the Delta spike we could go endemic. He says the most recent variants that we’re not hearing about in the news have been weaker. He believes that’s likely to continue. 🤞

We’re not seeing as much in my ER over the last week or two, but our ICU is still 100% COVID vents, and the COVID unit has been holding anywhere from 7-9 (full) patients.

How has the influenza been this year? Have you seen about the normal case load. I asked a Dr today at a visit and he said it’s been nearly non existent. I asked if the flu was being reported as Covid and he said “do you think Drs are stupid?”

I haven’t personally seen a positive flu yet, but I’ve heard of a couple Flu B results. Last year, flu was next to nothing, as was RSV. We had a bad run of RSV back in the summer before the COVID wave.

Here are the frontline workers and other types of employees who qualify for a booster shot, according to the CDC, which noted that the list could be updated in the future.

  • First responders, including health care workers, firefighters, police, congregate care staff
  • Teachers and support staff, including school administrators
  • Day-care workers
  • Food and agriculture workers
  • Manufacturing workers
  • Corrections workers
  • U.S. Postal Service workers
  • Public transit workers
  • Grocery store workers
  • Additionally, homeless individuals living in shelters and people in institutions, including prisoners, can get the COVID-19 booster shot.
