Z hates Freddie so much lol
don’t worry bro, he’ll be gone next year and we’ll prolly move your GAWD TDA to man 1st and hit .228
Snit is the problem and the dinosaur, Freddie is just a victim of spending his adult life under the tutelage of Cox disciples
wait, has he even been chopping lately?Snit is the problem and the “Braves culture” is a definite problem from the top down. But the “captain” also needs to understand he doesn’t need to be critiquing his teammates for taking days off in this sport. That’s not his job. That’s not helping anyone. And it doesn’t help that a guy might be hurting, or he might need a mental day and he might not take it because the supposed captain is gonna give him **** for it. That’s not leadership.
I mean, I do admire that mindset, and of course Freddie is going to share this example because it had a good outcome. But how does Freddie know that Hechavarria being banged up wasn't going to be a liability that night? He isn't a trainer, doesn't know how bad it hurt, and I don't care how much of a leader on the team he is; that isn't his call.Sitting in the dugout on a recent rainy afternoon in Atlanta, Freeman tells a story about Adeiny Hechavarría. Two years ago, after Swanson hit the IL with a bruised heel, the Braves signed Hechavarría mid-season to fill the gap at shortstop. One day, he made a game-saving, diving catch and landed hard on his elbow and considered sitting out the next game. The following day, Freeman found him in the trainer’s room and explained to Hechavarría that he had to play.
“I know it hurts, but you're not injured,” Freeman told him.
That night, Hechavarría hit a two-run home run in his first at-bat (one of just nine he hit that whole year.) When he got back to the dugout, Freeman was waiting for him.
“I said, ‘You're welcome.’”
