And he got better..he actually improved as he went. He must really suck in practice.
My crazy fan brain is going to rationalize that Heupel believes in all his QBs, but he know Bailey has the potential to be great and wants to make sure he's ready when he steps out there and isn't broken from having to learn on the job

I would take a player that sucks in practice but lights come on when the game starts instead of a player that performs well in practice and sucks when game time comes around. I wonder if Milton is even facing a D in practice. If he is facing the secondary that Pitt was facing then no wonder Milton and Hooker looks so good in practice.

No…. He is facing Alabama’s secondary in practice.

On Beckwith, he may not be playing due to still learning the position. He never played it, right?

When you learn a completely new position for two different types of offenses, it may be a little tougher for someone that's never played the position.
While I’m sure that’s partly true, how hard is it to come in on short yardage situations.

“Dee take this handoff and plow ahead for two yards. Just don’t trip or drop the ball.”

Heup / Golesh / Hazle have the track record and have certainly earned the benefit of the doubt as far their ability to develop quarterbacks and implement effective offenses. The play-calling is there. Whoever ends up under center, I believe the QB situation will get there, too. They've just done this too many times for it to inexplicably not work here.
Not so much Golesh. This is his second season with Heup. TE guru previously.

We have seen this show before. Where a coach rides with a certain QB no matter what, even though he has no business being on the field and we know how this show ends.

I think there is a window for a lot of schools to get some really good players that before they may not have had a chance to. Kids are going to see some of the schools as places they can play and succeed and make it to the next level. The Alabama , Clemson brand of football is slowly changing. If you have a team 80 5* players on average only about half will play. They are finding that the ones that are going to be paid play, not set. Winning a National Championship is great but playing on Sunday is the dream and the dream can be found at a bunch of places.

People will argue winning championships brings players which is true but with that being said UT has had some GREAT players and only won one National Championship in the last 60+ years, so go figure. By the way Minnesota, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Pitt, Auburn and Georgia have also won just one in that time frame.
It’s not changing. The gap is only widening.. alabama just had the #1 class EVER last year. Idk where you’re getting this lol

Someone may have already said this but I want to drop in to say Trey Smith will be on the All-Pro team at the end of the year.

That is all. Have a great day!
Closest comparison to Quentin Nelson after only one game. Will get better!

I think if Bailey practiced better this would all be moot.

If you are referring to the Hooker fumble go watch again. Play call was fine. Hooker didn’t trust the read or missed it one but Callaway was wide open and the ball should have been thrown prior to his break and it would have been fine instead he waited and the Pitt guy was in his face.

The difference between a competent passing QB and an athlete playing QB. You just noted his natural reaction - wait to see instead of anticipating and initiating the action.

No real inside info, just looking at the teams that are playing the big boys close due to the influx of transfers and the like from those big schools. It want happen quick but it could happen. I really think the mindset of the players has changed so much. There was a time when getting a kid to go to school XYZ was a given because of their life long dream to play at that school and win a NC but now the dream is to play on Sunday and you don't need a ring to do that but you do need exposure and that is what they crave.

I really think at the end of a successful career the Super Bowl ring is the cherry on top and a NC are the sprinkles. College is only a means for many to play on Sunday, harsh but in many cases true.

Lol I wonder what Swain is thinking… he was all over Joe Milton on the radio. He kept saying he’d light it up and he’d be the best QB we’ve had in years. Which I hoped that would be true nevertheless it clearly wasn’t
Pumping out optimism by request . He and AP are bad about it.

Best advice I got…

Enjoy this season for whatever it is. Don’t get too emotionally invested. Look for the growth next year and enjoy the steps forward you see this season.
As long as they keep playing hard until the end and exorcize the pathetic quitter mentality we have had to endure for the last 15 years out of the program...I will be right there.
