The real problem is… for as much as I love the new lineup and offense in general, we don’t string together enough consistently good at bats…. Compared to other good teams, that will be our downfall. Not drew smyly

He’s already showing it. Went from primarily singles to a lot of XBH’s recently. The contact ability is super impressive and he’s very athletic.

I don’t think that necessarily means he is gone. He might want to hit the market and be courted for the first time.

It is not. The only hope we have is MLB does a 162 suspension next year and we are only responsible for the last two years

We are very fortunate to be where we are and to have used as few starters as we have to get here. He hasn’t been great lately, but he did his job as the 5. We still went out and made moves at the deadline so it’s not like he held us back.

Smyly has taken one L since May 8 and was absolutely nails in a stretch where the Braves had to have it. Without him, we’re likely far enough back at the break that no one is added.

I agree we overpaid. But he was serviceable for parts of the season. His ERA and advanced stats weren’t always the best, but he only has 4 losses to his credit in 25 appearances so far this year.

Look, I would have rather have Melancon/Duvall/reliever than Smyly…BUT we got Duvall back and added Dick-Rod…and he was solid for 2.5 months when Ian/Ynoa/Soroka were all gone
