Yep, this admin made a long-term commitment to stability and a "right way" rebuild, so the entire staff feels confident in their job security. Milton is CJH's guy. He recruited him hard at multiple stops and thinks his skillset is a good fit for his offense. He'll continue to develop, as will Hooker and HB. We also have Jackson coming in. There was always going to be a learning curve with this many new parts.
Think about how much better Milton will be next year.

And Heupel is a guy you can build a program around. He is a very likable guy. It's refreshing.

Agree with you about Milton not having a good game but disagree about the Tillman throw. It's fine to give your big 6'3 receiver a 50-50 ball to win against the undersized and less athletic corner

That is less than a 50-50 ball vs every other team on our schedule that isn't Tenn Tech.

Wasn’t Joshua Dobbs 1-8 in the first half against Florida? Do any of y’all know the outcome of that game?

Joe isn’t as bad as y’all say he is and he isn’t a good as we was hoping for. He will get there. I’d imagine a lot of his “deer in headlight” moments last night was due to have too much time in the pocket compared to his time at Michigan.

I haven't said and am not saying that Milton was great. I'm saying if the outcome on 2 throws was different, we're talking about how the offense looked pretty good.
What if that pass to the flat was picked off and returned for a TD, which it would have been in a SEC game? What if Tillman doesn’t go over the DB to make a spectacular catch and that ball is intercepted like it should have been? If those outcomes changed, we would be screaming for a new QB today.

Cool rushing stats:

We held them to a MEASLY 1.4 YPC lol. 32 yds on 23 carries lol. That's awesome to see.

RB carries:
Evans 7.5 YPC WOAH
Small 5.3
Pierce 4.5
Wright 3.5

Someone also brought up the last time we ran for over 300 yards was lowly UTEP. Does anyone remember how many points we scored with all those yards? 24 lol...PruittBall...

Bigger picture topic/convo:

Based off of what you saw last night, do you think that Milton would improve in offenses coached by:

Kiffin?
Mullen?
Sarkisian?
Freeze?

Those are some of the "QB gurus" out there. I do think that he would improve in Kiffin's offense over the course of a season (see Crompton). I feel like if Heupel is a QB guy that can unlock an offense's true potential, that we should see some improvement.

How bad was our red zone offense under Pruitt? Good grief...don't remind me lol.

Thought this was pretty telling last night…

“We as a passing game - QBs and WRs - didn’t play the way we need to moving forward. We expect to have Jimmy Calloway back soon.”
-Heupel

Unsolicited remark makes me think Calloway may be a key ingredient. Is he injured?

Think he's still nursing that hamstring. They managed him during camp, held him out some and are giving him extra time. I think he can play, but they're not sure when he will.

My biggest concern with Milton is there were guys running wide open all over the field multiple times and he never even looked their way. Despite having 10 seconds to throw repeatedly.

If Milton can get even just a little bit more comfortable in the passing game, I think we will be okay. Just really needs to learn to put some air on those deep shots. If he did that last night then it would have been 52-6 and Tillman would have had 100+ yards and 3 TDs.

Run game looked legit but we will know more about that next week after playing a better defense. Evans was really impressive. Small was as well, but Evans just had that look of a really good running back. Excited to watch him this year.

He's done it his whole career. Won't be fixed.

His “whole career” was last year. That’s it. Not that I necessarily think it will be fixed but before last year he had attempted all of 11 passes.

The most disturbing thing I saw from Milton was how often he didn’t see guys breaking open. Just seems like he doesn’t see the field well. Which was some of the criticism from Michigan. That’s one area where I feel like HB could thrive in this O.

Another impressive stat to me in the running game. Got all them yards and the longest run of the night was 21 yards. So it wasn't like someone broke a 90+ to up the average, we mauled BG upfront and chunked out 5.1 a carry as a team.
