Let's not get carried away buddy! Right @Nooga ?I miss him too
I’m going to say this one time and I may or may not shut up about it (who knows with me). I’m fully vaccinated. I’ve had to be tested twice this week because of two of my school age work kids testing positive and will again Monday and because of where I work. My son’s family had to go through testing this morning (all negative, thank you Lord) and all of them are vaccinated. After what I’ve seen in the last year and half, I will not go down that road of left or right. I will not tell anyone to get the vaccine, because it’s a personal choice, but damn, take the precautions. I’m sick of worrying and a nose swab shoved up my nose every time I blink.
What grade do you teach? We have another student admitted to the hospital and on a ventilator. That is three. One of the twins who was coming off the ventilator is back on it, and the other one isn't doing well at all (as of yesterday). I hope my fellow Zone folks will continue to keep them in your prayers.
We have an awfully lot of students in quarantine right now. Over half the students in two of my classes are out until a week from Monday.
We got some clarification on what constitutes "close contact" as a matter of "policy" (exposure within six feet for continuous fifteen minutes, masked or not), and students who have received the vaccine do not have to quarantine.
We are masked all day except when eating or taking a drink. I am very thankful that I have experienced no resistance on that at all. I am so grateful my students are cooperating fully (often better than some of the adults, which seems to be the norm these days because the kids think/realize most social media arguments started by parents are stupid $hit).
I am giving my students an option to go outside, spread out, and unmask halfway through class (for about five minutes). So far, they don't want to do it.
I've been doing this a long time, and I love what I do. This is very challenging right now. I think a lot of teachers will leave the profession entirely because they feel like they have already "adapted too much."
We did not have many students who got the vaccine before school was out, but we have several who got them after school was out. So yes, I hope and pray what you say is true in your last statement.I guess it’s fortunate that kids had to wait until summer for their vaccinations. Their immune levels should still be high.![]()
just back from fort morgan
Sounds like a wonderful week, other than the spooky part. Glad you guys had such a good time, and I hope that the fever and ear infection quickly resolve!just back from fort morgan
icu was full in closest ER, and we were in one of the most heavily infected areas of the state and have not caught up with severity of problems in Tuscaloosa and surrounding counties. dylan, who has had COVID, started running a fever friday. Forrtunately, his mom is able to presribe antiobiotics, which wife picked up friday evening. has been fever=free since mid-afternoon saturday and has regular checkup this week in STL. in came with moderate case of swimmer;s ear and will pickup drops in hopes of avoiding our COVID doesnt exist medical offices.
Havent been online since early AM last Saturday and may not catch up with threads for several days. We only did takeout in the fairly secluded community we know well.
