Who cares about Bruce Pearl? It’s about protecting your assets(programs)…. Could you imagine Alabama wrecking their football program or any of their programs over a barbecue? No, they would have handled their business…. If Mike Hamilton had been in charge during the 90’s then Tennessee wouldn’t have a National Championship….. He put out every fire that came along.

Bruce Pearl was the one who put the program in danger. Firing him was protecting that asset.

Based on the last 2 years, how we start doesn't matter too much. Last year we were 2.5-0 and got whipped by every team with a pulse from UGA 2nd half and on. Year before we lost to GA ST and closed out 6 straight.

Especially being in Y1 with all new...everything...it'll be about how we progress and finish. A Pitt loss wouldn't be a big deal either. People putting way too much stock in game 2 vs an anomalous defense. Just another ~50/50 game out of 4-5 we have total. Whether we win/lose those early or late doesn't matter that much. Just need to grab 2+ of them at any point. Jmo

It is extremely minor compared to paying players and offering fake classes. And Pearl called them right after, before they caught him, and told them he hadn't been entirely honest. Meanwhile Frank Haith's coaching staff was giving athletes rides to booster yachts full of strippers and prostitutes and passing them bags of cash from boosters, AND they proved Haith lied to the NCAA about it, but he got 3 games.

So like I said, Pearl's crimes were incredibly minor, even lying (briefly) to the NCAA.

Pearl called grilling hamburgers and hotdogs a "BBQ." That's a major offense, as there were no smoked meats at the event.

That’s why we have not won anything of note since the 90’s…..it didn’t do anything to Pearl….. Pearl got paid to go away….paid by espn and a food company in Knoxville…. Waited 3 years and came right back to the SEC…. We lost all our talent…. Hired Donnie Tyndall and it rock bottom for a few years….Auburn paid Newton…. Backed up the program and was rewarded with a championship…..Bama had all kinds of shady stuff going on and they defended the program and have many championships to show for it….

I don't understand the Pitt game determining how they play the rest of the season either. I could see it as important to fans and perception though.
