Coronavirus (No politics)

Haven’t seen anything about masks 😷 being required or not for fan entry or anything about vaccines 💉 for the fans and what percentage of our team has been vaccinated. I did a story that Ole Miss is 100% vaccinated.
You would think that some kind of announcement by Danny White or someone would be made pretty soon about that.
I'm not sure that we are even over the 85% threshold that relieves the team from having to follow other protocols.

close to the 85%

Tennessee will follow whatever county protocols are setup. Not sure what current Knox county is doing..
It's my understanding that once the team reaches 85%, they can dispense with or significantly reduce some of the team testing requirements, is that right?

Without knowledge of how the Tennessee governor is going to act, I assume that the stadium since it is outdoors will be allowed at full capacity. I doubt they will have a mandatory mask policy for outdoor activities. In other words, will be left to people's discretion.

I do wonder though on how much attendance will be reduced by people not wanting to risk being in a crowded setting like that. I don't see Tennessee having a vaccine mandate to attend games it is just not feasible at this point.

There's nothing to worry about. Carry on with your life. I went to several Nascar events last fall unvaccinated and didn't take mask mandates seriously. I never have. There were no spikes from any of those events. Masks and plexiglass are ridiculous and won't save people from their own carelessness. Wash your hands often and quit touching your face, you'll be just fine. I plan on attending the game but did get talked by family into getting the vaccine this spring because no-one we knew of suffered any ill effects.

Probably no special restrictions. Students can only get COVID at university required functions, i.e. class, labs, welcome events so that is the only place UT requires students or anyone to wear masks. Games are optional so you can't catch COVID at them. haha

After seeing the opening in EPL this past weekend and packed stadiums across the pond I would imagine the same here in the south. I can be done. Now granted 7-14 days after would be the real date to look at for any spike or whatnot so there is that. I did see that California is requiring vaccine proof to go to some games. I just can’t see that here or actually think that will do any good.

Delta is a completely different animal, WAY more contagious. You're experience last fall is now irrelevant. If you are unvaccinated and attend these games, be prepared to get it.

Guys the vaccine does not stop you from gettin Covid. It does not matter. The only thing it does do, if your lucky is keep it from being severe. Now that said people with the vaccine are still showing up in ICU. Like the other poster mentioned, you can wear a mask or not. I prefer washing my hands and not touching my face method. Been vaccinated, but I try and stay at the safest distance possible, I have led a normal life or to the degree I could since it started. Wash your hands... If you feel you need to wear a mask I am sure UT will have them around campus to purchase before entering. May even give them away.

I dont see them doing anything, if they do itll be a mask requirement when moving around the stadium and maybe proof of vax/negative test but I doubt it

LWS, can you explain the reason for the seemingly glacier pace at which our players are getting vaccinated? Does it just boil down to convincing more players not to be fearful of the vaccine? Are there some that had the first shot and just have to wait the allotted amount of time before they can get the second one? I'm genuinely surprised this is dragging out as long as it is. I think Alabama is 100%, along with Ole Miss. I'm not sure if any other SEC teams are at the 100% threshold.

Anywhere from 90-95% of people in ICU with 'Rona are unvaccinated. I'd say it's working.

I can definitely see there being a mask requirement, as well as vax proof/negative test to attend games. Either way, I'll be set for Ole Miss in October.

Well that may be true in your area but my wife is a physician here where I reside. She happens to see a lot of ICU patents and your stats are flawed. Especially with this variant. Try closer to 30% are vaccinated. Nashville is probably right in line with that I would imagine.

There wasn’t a single I.C.U. bed available in Alabama on Wednesday.

90% of the Covid patients are unvaccinated.
96% of Covid deaths are unvaccinated.
