The Official CoronaZoneVirus Thread

Because there’s a delay in tests returning positive, and people are contagious and spreading virus in the meantime? Because people might in fact be symptomatic (or denying to themselves, or to others) and are contagious and spreading virus in the meantime? Because enough teachers and students might be out, and combining the others into new temporary groups allows the virus to spread to uninfected people?

Are we really still trying to nonchalant our way through this?

— Edited second sentence for making no sense whatsoever.
People are spreading this constantly. My guess is that if we did daily testing of every American, the number would be massive. The virus has shown that it will adapt around our vaccine technology. It gonna run its course sooner or later.

Yeah, sorry, no. Wherever and however it came from, it’s a disease, and it requires coordinated and science-based reaction, not emotional arm-waving, to knock it out.

Yammering about China and Fauci and Afghanistan (??????????????) is pointless and irrelevant and unproductive.

It will certainly be here the rest of our lives as long as half the population of our country has its thumb up its collective butt and refuses to do what is PROVEN to reduce the spread of the virus. Other than the degree of spread and lethality, there is nothing different about fighting COVID from polio, diphtheria, measles, or any other deadly virus. People need to act like grownups here and acknowledge that we have a common enemy, and we need to make a united resistance to it. Just like any other war or threat to our lives.

Are you really giving up so easily?
First, I am vaccinated and hope everyone who can be choses to do so. Second, the vaccine does not stop transmission. That is the justification for requiring vaccinated people to wear masks. We now have vaccinated people dying from COVID. The current vaccine is not a magic bullet. It will likely have reduced efficacy against successive variants. That’s evolution (I.e. science).

I think that Fauci and corrupt leaders and science created covid in the lab in Wuhan and this was done for a reason. It's biological warfare that will be the new Flu but it kills more people. Now what reason would it have been created for? Who has been linked to China? Who is getting rich off this? How does killing the overweight and people with underlying conditions and random people and the poor elderly help the world? To me it don't but to the ones that created this a motive could be global warming and over population. This is the stuff that I think about because I don't trust government. And the reason I mentioned Afghanistan was a example of one of many reasons why I don't trust the government the other could be Vietnam. This Vaccine you want everyone to get is not proven or has it been FDA approved.

could be that the whole purpose was less about maximizing fatalities and more about creating something that would be a such distraction that it would lead to political upheaval and financial disaster in the world's sole superpower such that a new balance of power can be implemented on the other side. personally, I don't think it's a weapon. just something that escaped a lab and now we cannot stop it.

for anyone who actually cares about facts, the data on pediatric covid numbers can be viewed here and it is updated daily. TN Health Dept. Six people under 18 years of age on vents yesterday in the entire state of TN. We peaked at nine four days ago. I get it that if that was your kid or grandchild you'd want the earth to stop to try and save them but that's an emotional response, not a scientific one. Pediatric deaths from covid remain a minuscule percentage of the overall. if you have limited resources, do you focus on the outliers or focus on the many? Old people with co-morbidities remain the most vulnerable. Keeping kids in school will keep them away from the most vulnerable population and it will keep them on pace with their educations so that someone will be qualified to take over the work of this nation's industry when the time comes. OTOH, if school isn't really that important why don't we just go ahead and abolish it now and give property owners a big ole tax break.

Last year in my plant alone we peaked with 13 people positive in the first few weeks. It tapered off quickly as we all wore masks and many worked from home. In the last week I have lost one friend here at work and we are getting ready to lose two more. That will make 3 fatalities in about 2 weeks time. We have 13 positive cases right now. Many here are vaccinated and no one that has been vaccinated has shown a positive test. Variants of this vaccine have been in development for 20 plus years. Get your damn shots and stop whining. Fear of the guberment or whatever is not a reason to pass on the vaccine. If you have a valid medical reason then fine, but anything else is BS.

Those that know me here know that I am considered a fairly radical conservative also.

Meh, you'd felt the same with anyone except the likes of Freeze or Briles, so I'm not moved.
Hiring either would have been a clear signal that the administration is ready to do whatever it's gonna take to win, which I would have considered a good sign. Tony what's his face at Clemson might be as lame a head coach as Pruitt was, but we'd be doing a lot better in recruiting if they'd bagged him. I'd have to go back and review who was available to make any kind of comprehensive list of hires they could have made that would not have elicited an emotional response from me akin to that displayed in the gif you posted. Prolly not gonna take the time to do it but you are correct insofar as the two coaches you named would absolutely be on that list were it to be compiled.

Are these people sick or why are they testing them ? Its going to come down to get vaccinated or lose your job
One had a fever and tested positive, the other one had been around the first one and got tested. Vaccination or lose of employment is already coming and I’m all for it.

that would require full FDA approval of the vaccines. I don't see how an employer can force someone to get a vaccine that hasn't had full FDA approval. and i'm pro-vaccine BTW.

One of our facilities did, but Tennessee is a “work at will” state and California is doing it. There is some type of provision that says in case of a emergency situation, it can be mandated. I’m vaccinated so I haven’t read much on it yet.

Apparently Pfizer is expected to be approved around Labor Day and Moderna soon after.

That will trigger (apologies for the word) FDA approval for boosters for healthcare workers, nursing home etc residents, and the elderly. I think it also influences the military timing, although I will leave that to @volfanbill.

Supposedly the boosters are going to start as early as September for elderly, autoimmune deficient and healthcare workers, but they recommend waiting until 8 months after the first vaccine.

I also don't believe in locking vaccinated people down just because some people won't get the vaccine. Seems like if they get sick that's kind of their problem not mine.

I mean I personally don't understand working in healthcare around potentially sick people and refusing to get a vaccine. I just don't get that.
We have quite a few at my place that have refused to. It’s a mixture of not taking it serious, it’s never going tohappen to me and ignorance.
