247 podcast big on Calloway. Maybe 1 of the top 2 WRs.

Says 6, maybe 7 guys "have to play"...depth is just too solid:

Calloway
Hyatt
VJJ
Payton (will have to fight for starting spot, but plenty able to do so)
Tillman (offers nice size, unique)
Holiday
Coby

Starting 3 not that important. Plenty of rotations and situation-specific.

Expect Campbell to play a part at TE, more as season goes along. Staff expects him to play. Golesh high on him, despite never playing a freshman TE. Says Golesh absolutely lost his (positive) mind when Campbell hit his first sled in practice. Didn't celebrate like that with any of the other TEs. Hollering as if we had "just won the Super Bowl". Mods interpreted that as Golesh saying if this guy can ALSO block...we are in business!

Love hearing the Campbell news. He's been my sleeper and we could really use an elite passcatching TE. If he excels this year, his stock is going to be sky high in 2022, as will ours. A great TE is a big thing we've been missing for too long.

love to hear this on Campbell. They just had a guy at UCF transfer from WKU that was a walk on there. Ended up at UCF, used him as like a jumbo WR and got him drafted in the 4th round by LA. Think his name was Jacob Harris. These guys know what theyre doing. And they are starting off with better talent here in most positions and thats saying something considering what they did at UCF.

Havent had a legit pass catching TE that had some playmaker to him since Rivera.

They’ve addressed “trust” in Heupel’s press conferences. There’s a markedly different approach from previous staffs. Some players got an unlimited free pass from mental mistakes while others would go into a bottomless dog house from whence never to return. Heupel has a history of letting you play through them and use as teaching moments.

I remember being excited for Wood-Anderson. I still think his entire career trajectory changes if JG doesn’t miss him with the worst throw I’ve ever seen in the Florida game in 2019

Not sure about angle, but here is his full comment. Fwiw Mohan was only there 1 year and played 1 game. Coach was also at UM only 1 year. Hard to know how close they are from that limited exposure + covid:

"Obviously with Mohan, had a little experience with him from last year. You know with him it’s just learning the system. The challenge for him is always how to play stack linebacker, because he was an edge rusher in high school. So he’s been really good. He’s been better than I thought he would be as far as the learning aspect of it and learning to read and react, instead of just being a feel-pass rusher."

Not sure what you mean…but it seems like you are comparing one of the best gymnasts of all time with a no name WR who hasn’t accomplished anything…

Hurd is a guy who has barely played, hasn’t helped his team win a game yet saying he just doesn’t feel right and the team is thinking maybe it isn’t worth keeping him.

If this was Jerry Rice, 49er fans would have given him all the time he needs….as he has proven himself over and over and if he says he doesn’t feel well, he must mean it.

Other notable mention on the 247 podcast:

Hooker having a high level of consistency so far. Said that's something a lot of fans were more expecting from HB, but HH has been the consistent one. Also said HH was oddly forgotten after Milton appeared. But he was viewed as #1 out of Spring, but the O&W game had people/fans forgetting about him. Basically said don't count out HH.
