The Atlanta Braves

I'm not big on a .500 team being aggressive for a 1 year rental, but if AA can get a guy for next year too, he's got to take a look even if he's not sure we can win this year.
I'd rather wait and see what happens with the kids. You never know when it will click for someone. This is if you don't sell them while they have value and before it crashes.

I don't see how one precludes the other. You can add a player or two without completely blocking all the prospects. Whatever happens, there's going to be a competition for CF, SS, C, a couple of rotation spots and the entire bullpen. Just a matter of whether it starts on Labor Day or waits until Spring Training.

A competition at SS? Lol from who

I can assure you there isn’t going to be a competition at SS. It’s either going to be Dansby or it’s going to be an acquisition that is either part of or precludes a trade of Dansby but either way whoever is going to be the SS will be clear cut and competition less.

I just threw that in because Dansby will be FA. I know there's nobody in the pipeline. Guess they could decide the rest of the lineup is good enough to go on the cheap and bat Arcia 8th, but I highly doubt it.

Shewmake is staying at SS and has seemingly turned the corner. I think he finishes the year in AA and starts at AAA next season. If that goes well, never know. He’s been very good post May.

It's not just about blocking, but thinking longer term. Trading away cheap contracts for guys who may walk in two or three years with nobody to replace them.
