Oklahoma and Texas have reached out to join the SEC (allegedly)

One mans opinion….but if, IF this happens…

SEC West
Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Missouri
Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi
Mississippi State

SEC East
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

Play your own division and rotate two cross division opponents yearly. No permanent cross division opponent
No need for permanent cross rivals in this format
Pretty much keeps them all intact as is

F*** Florida
But have to agree with this alignment

This makes the yearly cross division games more interesting

I see no reason for divisions at all.

Watching Packer and Durham now on the ACC Network. The ACC commissioner, Jim Phillips, on potential ACC expansion, “Never say never.”

Who would the ACC want? Would they potential recruit Tennessee?

If that’s the case, he’s not thinking.

Just like I believe Notre Dame would be a lot better off if they joined the Big 10

Back when A&M came in, it was rumored that the SEC was in talks with Texas but Texas basically wanted to have an exalted position above the other members and the SEC lost interest.

The SEC may not want to invite Texas in to the conference. They may feel the juice is not worth the squeeze.

Totally agree w this. And I don’t think the two divisions are imbalanced either.

If you want some idea of what Texas fans are like, visit surleyhorns. com, their fan website. They're already talking about how they're going to add class to a conference of rubes. As for gratitude and loyalty, to Texas fans, they don't exist. Just consider what they're doing to the likes of Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Kansas who put up with their bullsh*t for years. Now, they're treating them like used toilet paper. You just thought you hated LSU and Aubie fans. Just wait.

This is what will happen.

The ACC is not in a strong position to lure anyone to their conference. If anything , I could theoretically see the ACC split up.
The B1G is in a much stronger position and I know they would love to add teams like UVA, UNC and Duke to expand their foothold in the mid-Atlantic. And from an academic standpoint it makes sense too.

Matter of weeks per ESPN lol
told y’all
Yep. Now it’s just a question of when it happens. Some people have suggested that it could happen as early as next year, but apparently the B12 requires at least 18 months notice, which would mean the 2023 season is most likely.

I can envision a wild scenario were we get down to basically 3 mega conferences and a ransacked ACC. We already can see that the Big 12 is basically dissolving as the remaining schools aren't very attractive on their own and are ignored by the SEC and B1G. They all get swallowed up by the Pac12 in a second tier conference. Their commissioner has already said they'd listen to all teams from the Big12 in the event they fold. From a regional and competition standpoint it makes sense as none of them generate a ton of revenue and they can craft conference rules on player compensation which are suitable to all of them.

The B1G is certainly not going to sit around, and they will make a strong push to add to their geographic footprint as they did with Rutgers and Maryland - who found it beneficial to leave the ACC despite the exit fee and legal fight. Which of course would naturally lead them to UVA, UNC and Duke who all make sense from a geographic and academic standpoint. Maybe they'd let Clemson in too. Plus NC State as a package deal and make it 20 teams.

What's left of the ACC would kind of resemble the old Big East including the return of Notre Dame and WVU. Boston College, Syracuse, Louisville, Miami, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and then some of the other ACC leftovers.

I don't see how it could happen any earlier than '23. There's a lot of schedule moving and contracts to break in all sports.

If and when we play Texas in the SEC we need an alternative rifleman uni/ helmet. That way it will look like we are hunting Longhorns the whole game.

(Disclaimer: may be biased since I have a degree from Texas). While I acknowledge that the university and some fans are very narcissistic, most horns fans are pretty reasonable. But, saying that Texas fans are worse than LSU fans??? That's as harsh as it gets!!! Come on now!

The SEC and Big Ten and ACC will always exist. So will the Pac12 in some form. These will be the only conferences that matter and have been for a very long time.

Big Ten will probably ask ND one last time to join and add Kansas too and be done. If ND says no they will look at other AAU Midwest or northeast schools

ND will likely join the ACC as full time member and someone like WVU, Cincy or UConn will fill them out.

SEC is likely done for now with expansion

PAC 12 will have to make some tough choices as politically the school presidents don’t want the likes of BYU, TCU, Baylor, Okla State and Texas Tech but may be forced to take them to survive.

The rest will continue to be midmajors and the remaining Big XII mentioned above some will lose big time. Like Kansas St or Baylor may be AAC bound

Where I like this is, if, again IF this happened and my idea were adopted for divisions,

The SEC East would pretty much be the old SEC except for South Carolina.

I would like to play Auburn every year and playing Alabama is always going to be tough, the league itself is murderer’s row.

My only issue is that is what all of us will have to deal with to win championships, while the ACC and other leagues will play powder puff and earn playoff spots and that would bother me

The SEC Champion and runner up will always get in the playoffs.
