(Updated 7/13) 2021 MLB Draft and Roster Management Discussion Thread

Without rookie leagues for the first time, the assignments will be interesting. Does everyone go to AZL? Any to South Bend or Myrtle Beach?

Something may have changed recently, but I don't think Rookie ball is a requirement for all players, but can be used by teams as evaluation for Low/High A ball distinction.

Ben at VQ saying Stephenson and Moore seem content with accepting whatever they sign for and Spikes likely to sign. Haven’t seen any slot money info though.

Spikes likely to sign with the Rays? Or us? So, we're losing everyone but Burns? That would suck.

If they sign for anything less than 200k it would be a huge mistake considering they could go to school, get a free education, increase draft stock and make money on the side with the NIL deals. At that point it just doesn't make sense.

I agree, but some kids just hate the idea of going to school. Classes are a huge deterrent for some. I went to high school with a few guys who had a wealth of SEC offers and turned pro because they said they didn't want to go to class.

I think Spikes will be more complicated than some think....for budget reasons the Rays will be facing

Ben doesn't think Dooney is automatically gone, but he was drafted higher than initially thought.
