The Atlanta Braves

If you’re a professional baseball and your motivation isn’t intrinsic and hinges on others to be harnessed, you aren’t the answer. The culture problems to me are coming down from the top (AA)

The other thing is we’ve outperformed the last two full seasons pretty significantly…a good portion of projections had us at the 80-85 win mark and we thought that was silly because we’ve outperformed them…combined with TDA and Oz being negative WAR and Fred’s slow start and it was basically begging for disaster

I think part 2 here is the bigger issue.
We went on a run where some bums played well above their heads. Now guys are reverting back to what they are and it's showing.
Are they really though? Dansby has been bad. The rest have maybe been worse, but at least somewhere in the neighborhood of last year other than Freddie starting slow.

I think it's more that losing the 3 and 4 hitter and CF being a disaster has neutered the offense. I mean, we're playing catchers and 2 outfielders that shouldn't even be in MLB right now. Meanwhile, one of the best bullpens in baseball has turned into grease fire.

Just listened to Ben Ingram on a podcast push hard for Starling Marte to come in and be a little bit of a "sheriff" in the locker room.

TDA, Bear, Dansby all had the best seasons of their careers last year. Dansby this year has gone back down to year 1 and 2 in the majors Dansby.

I think we are where we are because of 2 things. AA refusing to upgrade in certain spots. And the organization lack of development in hitters. Outside of Ronald and Ozzie what "good" hitter has come out of the org recently? I think AA is going to have to buy one and hope for one. Which do you think can actually be developed from within the stash of hitters we have or the arms? Hedge your bets with one and build the other with what payroll you have available.

I'm not against Marte as long as we don't give up a lot for him. It needs to be a wentz or Demeritte type deal

Barnes is an excellent recruiter, solid developer of talent and gets his guys to buy into defense and rebounding. But he also has an antiquated view of basketball with an offense that is too simple that good defensive teams can stop and he is too stubborn to change it which is why he’s never accomplished anything in the postseason and flames out early in tournaments. Very good regular season coach but usually you’re gonna say “could have done more” at the end of each season.
