Who has more potential to rebound to elite status - Nebraska, Colorado, Tennessee?

Even without orange colored lenses, it's UT IMO. Heup/DW know what to do. Give them the resources to go do it. UCF made it to the national stage and conversation without much to go on other that George O'Leary's work. UT can get there over the next few years and remain there with more resources, tradition, etc.

Nebraska and Colorado have sparsely populated recruiting geographies

Within 4-5 hours of Knoxville you've got a much larger bed of talent to poach

I have always found it kinda funny that when people really talk about great bands and music most of the groups mentioned are from the 60's and 70's. Most of todays groups will be forgotten by next week much less talked about 50 or 60 years from now.

It's called Classic for a reason.

To counter that argument. You old folks only listen to band from the 60s, 70s, and 80s and don't bother with the new stuff because you know you like those bands (nothing wrong with that). Hard rock/metal has expanded so much that it is difficult not to find bands you'd like. Personally I like metal core (metal with clean and rough vocals).

I listen to new and old, I just know what's good and what I like. New bands that show a respect and appreciation for what has come before while creating something new and unique (My Morning Jacket, Avetts, Cage The Elephant, White Stripes, Tame Impala, Father John Misty, etc) get my ear just much as The Band, Dylan, Floyd.

Ben McKee just said on Swain Event that a recruit he interviewed over the weekend said that "when you think of Tennessee, you don't expect much".
Tennessee just hasn't been good in 20 years.

What was the context? They could be referring to scenery’s and facilities. I think most people not from the state are surprised when they come to TN. They have this stigma of country and nothing and then see a good size city with a lot of nice facilities. Imo it is why we tend to blow some kids away based on expectation coming in and what they actually see

I listen to the new stuff but in a lot of cases they are techno take offs of the old stuff. Granted there are some GREAT musicians and they all have a niche but as far as trend setting, I just don't see it. The Beatles, Zeppelin, Rollin Stones, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Who, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Yes, Eagles, Kiss, AC/DC, Bowie, Allman Brothers, Little Feat, The Beach Boys, Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds and many more, they all were ground breaking. Groups today just aren't in the same conversation. IMHO

No offense but Ill never understand the Foo Fighter love. They are the most generic rock band of all time. Like stock music. Unlistenable. If Grohl hadn't been in Nirvana I doubt anyone would care about them.

I think something that has in many ways hurt today's music is the lack of radio play. Today there are so many option for groups to release new material that I really think a lot of it gets lost in the shuffle. Music for so long was radio driven where you listened and you had to go to a store and by their record or cd or eight track and you listen to them over and over. Now you just check a box in the corner and add it to a play list with the other 5000 songs you have.

I got to where I could tell within the first few notes of a song which one it was and many of them sound exactly the same. It wasn't until I snuck into my brother's room and listened to his AC/DC, Aerosmith, Zeppelin, etc albums that I knew there was actual good music in the universe. Then I was at a summer camp when I was about 14 and a friend had Green Day and Pearl Jam. So much good music in the world. Even today if you are willing to go seek it out. Some of it finds its way to the radio but most can only be found on alternative sources like streaming.

This is true, AM radio was the worst back in the 60's and 70's and then came FM !!!! I remember in the mid to late 70's in Nashville 103 KDF played whole albums at night and it was great. There was a DJ named Moby and he would go to sleep or whatever at times and when one side of the album would finish it may be a minute or two before the other side would play......radio silence, it was really something and everybody expected it and it was GREAT.

100%. I make it a monthly practice now to clean the playlist. I can always add some back later if I still want to hear them.

Still remember driving home from night shift work as a young guy who was working at a factory in the summer before heading back to college. That's when I first heard an Allman Bros song on the radio. Thought I had entered the Pearly Gates. Headed to the record store that day. That's how you found out about the new music releases back then.

I can dig it. I think we lose to either Pitt or Kentucky and finish 7-5. I agree with the other wins/losses.
